TOGETHER... IN THE WINDS OF CHANGE

ITALIAN  LTTA

Between 2 and 6 may 2023, the 3rd LTTA-students of our project took place in Messina, Italy, with the participation of students and teachers from the Italian, Latvian, Portuguese and Romanian schools. Unfortunately, our friends from Turkey were unable to attend due to the earthquake.

03.05.2023 - 2nd day of our LTTA-students

Today's morning was dedicated to Inclusion Games. Students played a lot of games in mixed teams, reinforcing their autonomy and team spirit skills. We also had the inclusion of students with special needs, reinforcing solidarity. Then we went to the beach for lunch and, in the afternoon, we went to visit the Horcynus Orca Park, where the students had an authentic outdoor class about Geography, History, Science and Arts. In this Park we visited the Museum of Contemporary Art of Messina, where the focus was an interactive room. We also went to the Eastern part of Sicily, where the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas meet, but do not mix. There we heard a lot of information about the History, Culture and Traditions of Sicilians. The afternoon ended with a get-together at an ice cream parlor in Messina, where students interacted and tasted a Italian ice cream. It was a wonderful day!!!

04.05.2023 - 3rd day of our LTTA-students

Today was a day totally cultural. We started the day with a guided tour in the historic center of Messina, where the highlight was the visit we made to the Church of Santissima Annunziata dei Catalini and the city's Cathedral, its tower and its magnificent astronomical clock. Then we went to the Town Hall where we were received by the Mayor of the municipality and met one of the most famous chefs in Italy, Francesco Arena, who promotes the famous focaccia, Messina's gastronomic tradition, all over the world. Of course, we tasted it. After lunch we visited the Regional Interdisciplinary Museum of Messina, with arts pieces from the 12th to the 18th centuries by several painters, the most famous being Michelangelo di Caravaggio. It was a day to deepen cultural knowledge and English skills for our students!

05.05.2023 - 4th day of our LTTA-students

Another day full of activities. The morning was dedicated to activities in nature. We went to visit the Alcantara Gorges, a deep gorge located close to the Etna volcano, where we learned more about the geology of this region of Sicily. The afternoon was filled with a visit to the fantastic Taormina, the richest city from a historical point of view in all of Sicily and known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea. Here we walk through the beautiful streets of the city and discover the Cathedral of St. Nicolau and the immense Greek-Roman Theatre. Throughout the day, students participated in a game to record the best representative photo of everything they visited during the day, in order to develop their observation and creativity skills. It was another fantastic day, where the environmental component was combined with the historical-cultural aspect and, of course, in a spirit of fraternization and multiculturalism between young people from different countries.

06.05.2023 - 5th day of our LTTA-students

Last day of this fantastic Erasmus meeting held in Sicily, which brought together students from Portugal, Italy, Latvia and Romania. Our Turkish friends were present in our hearts.

The day was dominated by activities in nature, with emphasis on tree climbing and group games (football and volleyball) in Colli San Rizzo Park. Here, autonomy, resilience and group work skills were developed, with instructions always being given in English, in order to boost English skills. We also visited the Sanctuary Madonna di Dinnamare, at the top of the mountain and where the view is magnificent.

At the end of the afternoon we went to a restaurant next to the city's marina for the farewell dinner party, where the certificate of participation ceremony was held. It was a ceremony where a lot of fraternization, complicity and joy prevailed.

This was the last mobility of our project and, therefore, it was more difficult to say goodbye. A very special hug for our friends from Turkey! We are together! Once Erasmus, forever Erasmus!
