Catching
Catch the ball
Strikes should remain strikes (still head and strong stick with glove)
Subtle glove into sternum (close strikes/balls)
Leave it.... not all pitches should be worked back into the strike zone w/glove... this will gain trust with your umpire.
Block the ball - Be the GRIT
Did the runner advance?
No - Good Block
Yes - Bad Block
Throw the Ball
Runner on base or not - determines how you will throw the ball back to the pitcher? BE ALERT
Footwork
Short/Quick arm path/action with explosive power (2.0 pop time is a goal)
Aim for Pitchers head - Be on a line - keep it low - Tags can't happen in Center Field
Back picks are communicated to your INFIELDERS
BE A LEADER
TALK, BARK, DEMAND and YELL it out!
Know the PLAY to your INFIELDERS, Know the Play to your OUTFIELDERS
Pitchers need you to be in the battle with them. Support, encourage, demand their best.
