Marie Comuzzo Brückner

Marie Comuzzo Brückner is a PhD precandidate at Brandeis University in Musicology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and she holds a Masters in Musicology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Originally from Italy and Germany, she spent the first part of her life in Europe, studying violin and touring in various orchestras before moving to the USA to pursue graduate studies in violin and more recently musicology.

Her research work focuses on the intersection between capitalism, gender, race, and the lack of diversity within the Euro-Western musical canon. She has served as Research Assistant for the Tasso in Music Project (https://www.tassomusic.org) and as organizer of the Bach Festival & Symposium (2021) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is currently an event-organizing and committee member at SMT Scholars for Social Responsibility Interest Group (SSRIG). She has also presented at the University of Toronto Graduate Music Conference.
