Kathrine Vines (she/her/hers, they/them/theirs), from Valdese, North Carolina, is a junior Music Education major with a concentration in flute at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Outside of school, Kathrine spends time working as a woodwind specialist in community theater productions, churches, and other local ventures. They take a particularly deep interest in furthering gender equality in conducting and leadership as well as highlighting the overlooked contributions of ethnic minority groups, particularly indigenous American tribes. They have recently researched and written about affirmative action in the classical industry and hope to continue this research in a Senior Honors Thesis in the near future.
