Emma Jensen

Emma Jensen received the Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, in 2018, and the Master of Musicology (Ethnomusicology track) from Florida State University in 2020. She is currently working toward her PhD in Ethnomusicology, also at FSU. Her research interests include Afro-Peruvian dance music, Senegalese and Nigerian popular music, sound studies, percussion literature and pedagogy, U.S. American popular music, and tabletop gaming sonic environments. She wrote “Youssou N’Dour,” a bibliographic entry published in Oxford Bibliographies in Music (Online) (2021), and presented her paper “Music in Tabletop Role-Playing Games” at the 2021 Society for Ethnomusicology, Southeast and Caribbean Chapter Annual Meeting. Her master’s thesis is titled “Dungeons, Dragons, & Star Wars: Sound in Tabletop Role-Playing Games,” which details the unique, whole-body sonic experiences of in-person tabletop games.
