Allyson Mills

Allyson Mills (she/her/hers), from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, is a junior majoring in Music Education with certificates in Folklore and European Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Allyson’s current interests are how public perceptions of women performers’ bodies have shifted throughout history, the vocal music of traveling and migrant groups of people, and how incorporating music from students’ specific cultural backgrounds in general music curricula affects musical appreciation and engagement. She recently received a Summer Research Apprenticeship Grant through UW-Madison’s College of Letters and Science Honors Program. In her free time, Allyson is on the board of UW-Madison’s chapter of cNAfME (collegiate National Association for Music Education) and is a member of SAI, a professional fraternity for women in music. She also enjoys visual arts and Irish dancing.
