When do I receive my Rank and GPA?

Ranks and GPA's are first provided to students in October of their Junior Year. They are not updated again until September of your Senior year and one additional time in February of your Senior year.

When should I take the SAT/ACT?

Most students will take the test in Spring of their Junior year in order to maximize the time they have to learn concepts in their Algebra II class. If you are advanced in Math (taking Pre-Calc or higher as a Junior) you can register for the test in the Fall if you prefer to take it earlier. Check out my SAT/ACT Prep page for more info and directions on registering. Students who do not wish to attend a 4 year college immediately after high school do not need to take the SAT/ACT.

When can I apply for Vocational School?

Check out my College and Career page.

How do I apply for colleges and scholarships?

How can I change a course or level of a course?

Changing to a different academic course can be done in the first 3 weeks of school. Level Changes (i.e. moving from Honors to CP, etc.) can be done between September and January. Remember - Electives cannot be changed once school starts and Teacher changes are not permitted. In order to make changes of any kind a Course Request Change Form needs to be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. These can be found in the Guidance office or printed from the Forms page on my website.

What is Early College or Dual Enrollment, and how do I register?

Is Community Service required for Graduation?

What is required for Graduation?

See my Scheduling section for a graduation requirement worksheet

How do lates and absences affect me?

Excessive lates and absences can lead to being put on No Credit Status for some or all of your classes. This means even if you are passing a class, if you've missed it too often you still will not receive credit for that course and will have to take summer school or retake the course in order to receive credit. See my Attendance page for more information.

How do I calculate my GPA on a 4.0 scale?

Our Weighted GPA is on a 5.5 scale and our Unweighted GPA is on a 4.5 scale. In order to determine what your GPA is on a 4.0 scale you would take your GPA and multiply it by 4.0. Then you would divide it by the scale of the type of GPA you are looking for 5.5. for weighted and 4.5 for unweighted. For example if your weighted GPA was 4.25 and you wanted to figure your weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale it would look like this: 4.25 x 4.0 = 17 ÷ 5.5 = 3.09

How do I calculate my estimated GPA?

GPA's are only officially calculated at certain times during your high school career. You will receive your first GPA in October of your Junior year. The second time GPA's are updated is September of your Senior year and then again in February of your Senior year. We recognize their may be times when you need your GPA prior to these times or are curious about your GPA. You are able to calculate an estimated GPA if you wish to provide one to coaches or other programs that need them earlier than we provide official GPAs.

Here is the formula to calculate your weighted GPA:

You would just need to calculate the grade points from your final grades based on the Grading and Weighting Scale chart (which can be found in the Course Selection Guide on page 9 in the link below). This would give you an estimate of your weighted GPA. PE is not included in GPA so you should leave that course/grade out.

https://www.trschools.com/curriculum/docs/2024/02/24_25-Master-High-School-Course-Selection-Guide-.pdf

Using your report card(s) - For each class final grade multiply the grade points assigned for the letter grade (per the above chart) by the number of credits for that class (5 for full year, 2.5 half year) - do this for each class (except for PE). Example: a student received an A+ for CP English. Looking at the chart above an A+ in a CP class would be 4.5 grade points. You would multiply 4.5 by the number of credits for the class (5) and get 22.5. Do this for each course.

Add these numbers up and then divide that number by the total number of credits. If you've only completed your Freshman year the total number of credits should be 30 (since PE is excluded). If you've completed your Sophomore year the total number of credits should be 60 (again since PE is excluded). The total number of credits may be more if you've omitted lunch to take extra classes. This final number will be your weighted GPA.

Weighted GPA is out of 5.5

***As a reminder this calculation will not be an official calculation it is an estimate for your reference, please note this if providing it to a coach or other program.
