The Bridges and Snow Shed

The Willow Creek Railroad has 10 railroad bridges of a wide variety of designs -- from steel viaducts to wooden trestles. The railroad also has 1 snow shed to protect the mainline in the mountains from rock slides and winter avalanches.

High Bridge -- 210' Curved Steel Trestle (83' tall) Micro Engineering Kit.

Marsh Trestle -- 170' Curved Wooden Trestle (13' tall)

Custom built; includes 216 custom-cut wooden pieces.

Mattesi Bridge -- 130' Steel Through Truss Bridge (93' tall) Atlas kit.

New Bridge -- 128' Warren Pony Truss Bridges (33' tall)

Atlas bridge kits with custom-built center support bent.

Twin Wooden Trestles -- 45' Wooden Frame Trestles (15' tall) Blair Lines kit (1 bridge) and custom-built (1 bridge).

South Forks Bridge -- 135' combination Steel Deck Truss Bridge with Wooden Approach Trestles (30' tall) Atlas bridge kit and custom-built wooden trestles.

Willow Creek Bridge #1 -- 65' Through Steel Plate Girder Bridge (25' tall) Atlas bridge. (Replaced by custom-built double-track 73' Through Steel Plate Girder Bridge 1/2022.)

Willow Creek Bridge #2 -- 65' Through Steel Plate Girder Bridge (25' tall) Atlas bridge. (Replaced by custom-built double-track 73' Through Steel Plate Girder Bridge 1/2022.)

Highland Loop Trestle -- 215' Curved Wooden Trestle (75' tall) Custom built; includes 454 custom-cut wooden pieces and 170 nut/bolt/washer castings.

Sarlat Viaduct -- 240' Stone Viaduct (40' tall; double track) Combination kit-bashed and custom-built.

Rocky Ridge Snow Shed -- The snow shed is custom designed, and is scratch built using 420 custom-cut wooden pieces.
