Judy Wong

Administrative Assistant

Judy joined the University of Calgary in 2009 as a  Research Assistant at the Forzani and MacPhail Colon  Cancer Screening Centre. Judy joined the  Administrative Services Department in 2010. Currently  she is the Administrative Assistant to Dr. Craig Jenne,  Dr. Keith Sharkey, Dr. Norm Campbell and Dr. Richard Hawkes in the  Cumming School of Medicine.

Laura Godin

Laura completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto in Human Biology, Immunology, and Physiology. During her undergraduate degree, she worked with the Temerty Medical School as an Instructor in the Youth Summer Program, and as a volunteer with both SciHigh Science Outreach, and The Hospital for Sick Children’s Ronald McDonald House Camp.

Laura joined the Jenne lab as a Master’s student in 2021. Her project focuses on the role of infection-induced-extracellular vesicles in causing adverse coagulopathy and myocardial infarction.

Esha Kaul

Esha was born and raised in India, but relocated to Canada for her undergraduate studies. In 2019, she graduated from McGill with a Bachelors in Neuroscience and Pharmacology.

Esha joined the Jenne lab as a Master's student in 2021 and is currently investigating the relationship between oncolytic viruses and CAR T-cells to determine how they may be used for cancer immunotherapy.  In her spare time, Esha enjoys reading, hiking, trying new cuisines, and listening to podcasts.

Dr. Victor Naumenko

Victor completed his Ph.D. in Virology at the D. Ivanovsky Institute of Virology (Moscow), studying the impact of herpesviruses on male fertility.

In 2013, Victor joined the laboratory of Dr. Craig Jenne as a PDF co-supervised by Dr. Doug Mahoney to study oncolytic virotherapy by intravital microscopy. Victor was involved in building up new imaging techniques, including optimization of labelling methods to visualize single viral particles in vivo and adaptation of conventional animal surgeries for high resolution imaging of tumor microenvironment. Victor was a direct supervisor to a number of graduate students in the lab and a key mentor to other post-docs.

In 2017-2022 Victor worked as a PDF and Senior Scientist in National University of Science and Technology “MISiS” and V. Serbsky National Medical Research Centre for Psychiatry and Narcology (Moscow). His projects were primarily focused on studying nanoparticles delivery to tumors using a combination of in vivo imaging techniques such as intravital microscopy, magnetic resonance imaging and bioluminescence.

In May 2023 Victor joined the ACTION team as a Research Associate. His work now is mainly focused on  high-resolution in vivo imaging of designer immune cells and their interactions with host and cancer cells in real time.

Alyssa Logan

Alyssa is currently completing an honours BHSc degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Calgary. She enjoys volunteersing at the Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation and routinely makes trips to her family cattle ranch on weekends.

Alyssa joined the Jenne lab as an undergraduate summer student in May 2023. Her project aims to analyze the behaviours of different platelet age groups and to assess their implications in immunothrombosis.

Archie Shch

Archie is a 4th year undergraduate student at the University of Calgary completing his BSc with a major in biological science and a minor in computer science. Archie also works part time for the Students Union as the Assistant Student Organizations.

Archie started as a summer student in 2023, his goal is to apply mathematical modeling and statistical analysis to analyze how the key factors influencing blood flow through the liver vasculature (vessel pattern, diameter, blood flow rates, location of adherent cells) can impact pathogen capture by Kupffer cells.

Milan Heck

Milan is a BHSc Graduate at the University of Calgary. Her work in the Jenne lab focuses on developing, testing and optimizing new vaccine platforms. Milan hopes to continue a research career by starting a thesis based Master’s program after she graduates.

Past Members

Dr. Agostina Carestia

Agostina completed her PhD at the Laboratory of Experimental Thrombosis, in the Institute of Experimental Medicine-CONICET, in Argentina. Her thesis focused on the interactions between platelets and neutrophils in Neutrophil Extracellular Trap (NET) formation. Specifically, she studied the stimuli, mediators and molecular pathways of NET generation mediated by human platelets and how histones activate platelets.

Agostina joined the Jenne lab in 2017 to complete a post-doctoral research position funded by a Beverley Phillip fellowship and a Cumming School of Medicine Postdoctoral Scholarship.

Dr. Rachelle Davis

Rachelle first joined the lab as a summer student studying the interactions between infection and coagulation. This work developed into an honours project looking at coagulation in the liver.

Rachelle completed her Ph.D. in 2022, studying the immune environment in the liver. This work focuses both on the impact of chronic liver disease, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) on the host immune response and tissue pathology and on the ability to reprogram this immune environment.

Dr. Madison Turk

Madison completed her Bachelor of Medical Sciences at Western University, where she was also a member of the varsity hockey team who won a national championship. She worked for a year at the Prostate Cancer Centre as a research coordinator before joining the Jenne lab as an Eyes High scholarship recipient.

Madison completed her Ph.D. in 2022 studying Oncolytic Viral Therapy as a treatment for cancer, with a  focus on whether virally infected cells can specifically recruit and direct T cells to a tumour. Using Intravital Microscopy, she can image oncolytic viruses in live mouse models and visualize their specific tumour killing mechanisms. Madison is part of the Leaders in Medicine (LIM) program, and is currently in Medical School.

Matt Lau

Matt has been a registered nurse since 2016, and joined the lab in 2019 as an independent studies student searching for neutrophil NETs in septic human plasma samples. Matt completed his Master's degree in 2022 working closely with Dr. Graham Thompson of the Alberta Children's Hospital to map the pediatric immune response to acute appendicitis through the use of mass cytometry.
