Each student interested in having a peer tutor, you must communicate with your guidance counselor, who can fill out the Google Form for you.

The form must be completed and submitted. The form will be submitted to the

chairman of the NHS tutoring committee (Kelsea Anderson and Bobbie Doherty).

HOW TO LOG HOURS AS AN NHS MEMBER

All community service hours, including tutoring, must be logged in the binder located in Mrs. Gauthier's classroom.

PROCEDURES FOR MATCHING A STUDENT WITH A PEER TUTOR AND

ESTABLISHING THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE TWO:

Once the chairman of the NHS tutoring committee receives a NHS Tutor Request

form, he/she will find an appropriate tutor for the student based upon common

availability times and course content. When the match has been made the chairman

will add the names to the Tutoring Googledoc.

The chairman of the NHS tutoring committee will give the tutor a copy of the NHS

Tutoring Request Form for the student he/she will be tutoring. The chairman of the

NHS tutoring committee will also notify the student’s guidance counselor that the

student’s name and the name of his/her tutor has been added to the Tutoring

Googledoc and to let the counselor know that the tutor will be contacting him/her shortly

to set up the first meeting.

The tutor will use the e-mail address or phone number on the NHS Tutor Request

form to contact the student and schedule their first meeting at a mutually agreed upon

time. The first tutoring session will be held in the student’s guidance counselor’s office.

The tutor will coordinate the first session with the student’s guidance counselor to

ensure that he/she is available. At that time the Tutoring Agreement will be discussed

and the counselor will supervise the signing of the Agreement. Copies of the agreement

will be given to the tutor and the student. Once the agreement is signed, the tutor and

the student will schedule regular tutoring sessions.

The tutor will give the Chairman of the Tutoring Committee the original signed

agreement. The Chairman will be responsible for keeping all Tutoring Agreements and

the creation and updating of the Tutoring Google docs listing the student/tutor pairs and

students waiting for a tutor to be assigned. The Tutoring Google docs will be shared with

the Director of Guidance, guidance counselors, students and tutors.
