Ethical Dimensions of Sports and the Hero Motif
"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic.
It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost,
but the urge to serve others at whatever cost."
— Arhur Ashe
"You have to be able to center yourself, to let all of your emotions go...
Don't ever forget that you play with your soul as well as your body."
-Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Storyboard Revisions: More Film Effects!
Today, you will read an article about film elements. Then you'll revise your 25% sports independent reading text storyboard to reflect the areas you've learned by reading this article. Have fun! Your revised storyboards are due at the end of class.
1) Go to the following website and read the article, "The Grammar of Film."
http://www.ala.org/aasl/sites/ala.org.aasl/files/content/aaslpubsandjournals/knowledgequest/docs/KQMarApr10.pdf
2) As you read, make at least ten notes on a Word file of items that should be in your film storyboard. Show them to Dr. Carolyn so you can be signed off.
3) When you're done reading, revise your storyboard: include as many elements of film as you now know from this article.
4) Resubmit your storyboard for grading at the end of class.
Homework: Type up your "Heroes" transcript from our inside/ outside circle discussions the other day. Print it out and be ready to analyze it in our next class.
