Acoustic Scene Analysis and Acoustic Geo Tagging

What information is missing from this scene?

SensoSmart Acoustic Scene Analysis and Acoustic Geo Tagging will use human labeling, machine learning, and history overlaid on a map to create an important source of information for those who cannot hear every sound. Situation awareness is important when driving a car, working in a dangerous job, and in many other situations. Is there a biological sound in the environment or a mechanical sound? Does the sound help us to understand our context or another important situation?

When driving a car, it is important to hear the siren of a fire truck, an ambulance, or a police car. With hearing loss, these sounds are often missed but SensoSmart Acoustic Scene Analysis will present information to the driver to improve situation awareness.

When workers protect their hearing, they often miss important acoustic cues from the environment. When people have hearing loss, they often miss important acoustic cues others can hear. SensoSmart will build a resource to sense, record, label, and learn about these important acoustic cues.

When a construction worker uses hearing protection, important sounds such as the sound of an approaching train can be missed and the worker is at risk. With SensoSmart Acoustic Scene Analysis, a visual, haptic, or announcement display indicating 'train approaching' will be presented to provide important situation awareness to the worker to improve safety.

SensoSmart Acoustic Scene Analysis and Acoustic Geo Tagging will improve navigation, human robot interactions, and a variety of other applications.
