I am a Senior Lecturer of Economics in School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Curtin University. Before that, I worked at Monash University, Deakin University and the University of Melbourne.
My research interests are at the crossroad of economics, public policy and social welfare, which are conducted under field as well as natural experimental settings. I have conducted field research in more than ten countries. Most notably, my work has informed public policies to the governments of Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. Currently, my research interests include the economics of exogenous shocks (e.g., natural disasters, climate change, and famines) and their bearings on economic performance and political institutions. I have finished my Ph.D. degree in Deakin University in 2013. Before that, I have worked at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) in Thailand. Besides, I have been extending my consultancy services sporadically to several development partners including the World Bank and many organs of the United Nations. |
