I grew up in suburban Maryland and Chevy Chase, DC, attended what was then called Priory High School in NE DC (now St. Anselms), attended Notre Dame University (General Program '65) and served in the US Navy (Active duty '66-'67 USS Soley DD-707 plus 5-6 years in the reserves).
I am retired after a 39+ year career in Information Technology begun at Honeywell when computers had 4k of memory, cost a million dollars, and took up a whole room. I flitted back and forth between technical and managerial positions, always focusing on the operating system and its interface with hardware. My final position was as Product Manager of a wonderful group developing the worlds most secure ?nix computer operating system (the XTS-400 and its STOP OS as well as an unnamed follow on).
We lived in Oakton, VA (about 8 miles outside the 495 Beltway around Washington, DC) for 30+ years.
We now live in Sanford, NC in the Carolina Trace community, about 45 miles SSW of Raleigh.
