Hackathon And Innovation

I participated three times in a Health Hackathon. The first one was dedicated to innovating Mental Health. The other two Health Hackathons were about innovating Health in general. At the last two I could send in my own project on which during the Hackathon would be worked.

Dutch Health Hackathon

With part of the Veerkrachtfabriek I took off to the Dutch Health Hackathon in Leeuwarden. In about a weekend I had to come up with a solution to a problem in the Mental Health System together with the Veerkrachtfabriek team. The team came up with the idea that the health should be accessible to everyone. The solution was a pillar on which there were not only words, but also pictures. With this solution people with less ability to read could also use Mental Health Care. Another solution that the team came up with that also could be added to the pillar was that an appointment could be made immediately instead of having to wait weeks or months, when care is needed. The pillars would be available at the entrance of the care facilities. Actually this could also be used at other care facilities besides Mental Health.

Dutch Hacking Health Leading To Reality Keeper

The second time I participated it was with Adstructie. Adstructie and me had a plan that eventually led to Reality Keeper. At the Dutch Health Hackathon in Utrecht the idea Adstructie and me came up with was presented. This resulted in that the idea of Adstructie and me was allowed to form a team. This led to building a non-functioning prototype and writing the proposal for a grant for ZONMW. Later the grant was granted for Reality Keeper. When the app was built it was available in both Apple and Google Appstore. Adstructie and I gave some relevant workshops about using social media in a responsible way.

Dutch Hacking Health The Second Time

I liked participating at the Dutch Hacking Health Hackathon and decided to participate once more. This time I had no project of my own. After the groups presented their projects, I decided to join a surgeon, who had a good idea. The idea was to make a 3D experience for the patient that needed cardio surgery.  The team was formed around the surgeon and the team started thinking about everything that was needed to make the experience for the patient. The reason for the Virtual tour was to calm the patient before surgery and inform the patient better about what would happen before, during and after the surgery. In the weekend a prototype was made and presented to the jury. The surgeon was granted money to make the prototype in real.

How The Health Hackathons Are Big Data Heavens

All the projects in the health Hackathons are based on solving a problem. To solve these problems data is sought and disciplines are combined to get to a good solution that can be used in practice after the Hackathons based on the prototypes made at the Hackathons.
