4 Days Hike A Must In Life

While walking my 2nd Four Days Marche I have thought of 7 reasons why walking a 4 Days hike is a must in life.

The Feeling Of The 4 Days

A must have! It is a separate feeling of togetherness. I do this together with the other hikers and all will reach the finish. It is uplifting each other when necessary, sharing stories and especially hiking and enjoying the environment.

I See More Of The Environment

I see more of the environment when I walk than when I am in a car or on a bike. Especially if I walk in an area for 4 days. I see the details and get in touch with locals and other hikers.

Group Protection

I walk protected by the walking group. I don't have to feel alone or have fear, because everyone walks the same route in the same time frame. I walk alone, but not alone.

Get More Out Of Myself

It takes a lot of me to walk long distances for 4 consecutive days. I build a condition, but I also need perseverance. Especially during the moments of pain or not seeing the further hike.

Route Is Fixed In Advance

The route is mapped out in advance for me and on the way I do not have the choice to take another street. I hardly have to think about the route. Just follow arrows or other signs. And sometimes the crowd like at the 4 Days of Nijmegen. This is also true for the last 100 km on each of the Caminos, which everybody hikes.

Enjoy Burgundian Food

If I walk 20 or more kms, I burn enough energy to eat extensively without fear of gaining weight, because I will certainly burn some energy along the way. Especially if there are some hills and mountains in it. They are always at the end of the stages, beware!

The Medal

Afterwards I always receive a medal. I usually want a chair and never walk again after completing such a hike. The appreciation of the medal comes later when I realize that I have hiked the entire route and that I have conquered that one mean climb. The next day I am searching for the next hike or actually I have a list with hikes I want to do.
