Birds for Breathing Places

We were successful in obtaining a Breathing Places Big Lottery Fund grant for our Birds for Breathing Places project which ran from September 2007 - June 2008.This project was about us discovering more about the reserve, and then armed with this knowledge and newly acquired skills, carrying out conservation work with volunteers from the local community. We researched how birds use the woods throughout one year and then formulated conservation measures to conserve and enhance the woods.

Activities included:

~ holding community events to introduce new volunteers to the group and the reserve

~ running workshops/training days in bird identification, survey skills and monitoring techniques;

~ selecting specific species to focus on & formulate appropriate conservation measures;

~ carrying out conservation work to enhance the wood.
