The Full Moon of June 2, 2015 falls just after high noon at 12:19 pm EDT, at 11 degrees Sagittarius 49 minutes. This final lunation of the springtime finds the Sun conjunct both Mars and retrograde Mercury in Gemini. Words and word plays are powerful now and transformative tools. These Gemini transits as well as the Full Moon will square Neptune in Pisces. A heavy mutable sign pattern is created showing a T-Square aspect with Virgo as the empty leg. Separate fact from fantasy and quell anxiety. Verify appointments and clarify. This is a very scattered and dualistic star pattern. The Full Moon is widely conjunct Saturn, which hovers on the Sagittarius- Scorpio cusp. Saturn is poised to retrograde back into Scorpio where it will remain until reentering Sagittarius again on September 17, just as Mercury turns retrograde once again. A good state of mind with a dash of humor and patience will help in making the best of things now. Topics linked to health and well being will occupy the thoughts of many. The welfare of wildlife as well as domestic animals will be of concern as well. Plan carefully if considering the adoption of a new animal companion. If in doubt, wait. Dreams can be vivid and intriguing, psychic experiences are likely, but both can be highly symbolic and a challenge to interpret. The unsubstantiated must be challenged. Bake an apple pie and enjoy heritage and history. Here in Central Florida an archeological display of artifacts excavated from pre-Civil war settlement are on display in the Town of Fort Mead. Watching a television program about the bottles, tools and even a sardine can which were unearthed after over 150 years, I was fascinated by the way old and young visitors alike voiced how much they enjoyed the exhibit.
The fixed Star Rastaban, a binary yellow star situated at the eye of the Constellation of the Dragon, is almost exactly conjunct the Full Moon in Sagittarius. This strong fire sign emphasis does point to hotter weather and accents a need to treat fire with respect. Ritual blessings using candles, incense and other sacred flames should be especially effective for those drawn to the mystical. The long running transiting square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn continues to impact world weather and politics. Its a time of both personal and planetary change. This Full Moon with Sun in Gemini and The Moon in Sagittarius is celebrated by the Pagans as a Dyad Moon, suggesting duality. This is another reminder that there are at least two (sometimes more) sides to every story. Be fair and balanced, consider the totality and think things through before choosing.
Among the Native Americans this is the Corn Moon. Florida’s corn crop is outstanding this year. Stopping at a roadside stand recently I found some very sweet candy or cream and sugar corn, just harvested and offered for sale. Corn is thought to be the first of all cultivated crops and recalls a time when culture took a leap forward. Corn fields were at the heart of early villages. This grain is symbolic of intelligence and versatility, just like the sign of Gemini. Besides being used in many dishes, The dried corn kernels can be turned into jewelry and used in blessing rituals.
After reflecting upon the possibilities promised by this upcoming Full Moon I did something I had often thought about and never tried before. I went to two different U Pick Farms, located West of Orlando and returned with two large containers of blueberries and blackberries, paying just a fraction of what a supermarket would charge. I was amazed at how many such farms had signs out and how many visitors each had. People of all ages and descriptions were busy berry picking! I wore one of my custom designed sun hats which turned out to be a real conversation starter, drawing many greetings and comments, most of which were friendly and favorable. It is time to make a large pitcher of iced blackberry lemonade now.
