    • Please do a web search for "CCCC Latest" using your preferred web browser any time that you would like to view our web site. You should easily find our CCCC site listed near the top of your search results. Click our site and then select Community Resources from the main menu. We also have a the CCCC FaceBook group for community events and announcements from individuals.

How to Submit Announcements to the CCCC

(FaceBook group and Community Resources)

CCCC FaceBook Group (for individuals):

    • Only post Community Announcements/Events, Downsizing/Moving or Yard Sales in the CCCC FaceBook group (not in Community Resources!).
    • Do not post items for sale! in Community Resources or in the CCCC FaceBook group. This is not a buying/selling service!
    • We will allow you to post in the CCCC FaceBook group: Yard/Moving Sale Events (with a specific date and location - usually up until a few days after the event takes place), Community Trainings/Event Announcements, Personnel-Jobs and Volunteer opportunities, Pets (when you are moving) and Sublets that are reasonably priced (but ONLY if you are a tenant and NOT if you are a landlord, owner or agent).

CCCC Community Resources (for helpful recommendations, business services and for homeowners with rentals available):

    • Send us your new/updated requests using only the Online CCCC Request Form. We do not accept announcements or changes via e-mail, nor do we accept email attachments. Please respect our Policy and do not post to our FaceBook group.
    • If you are a business (which includes most Education services such as schools and language teachers/tutors) you can post or update your Community Resource/Services announcement -- once every six months.
    • We also have a policy of accepting Housing announcements from owners, landlords and agents only once per year.

How to Format Your Service Announcement

(for our Community Resources web site)

    • We only accept text written in a single paragraph with no line gaps nor excessive spacing between words. Keep your announcement to 100 words or less.
    • Carefully edit your content before submittal. Remember the CCCC Community Resource announcements are read by many from around the world. Please keep your text brief -- use less than 100 words and do not use the enter key at the end of each line (instead use the Backspace or Delete key to remove any spaces) so that you end up with a clean continuous single paragraph with no blank line spaces and NO large gaps anywhere. See our publications for examples. Also please try to avoid CAPITALIZING all letters in a word .
    • Please do not forget to include your contact info with your announcement.
    • Test and make sure that any links that you include do, in fact, work, and are secured for “others” to be able read. Do not include links to photos of individuals or family albums. See Links & Attachments below.

Kindly review and proofread your requested Community Resource announcement before sending it to us and make sure that:

    1. you only use the Online Form for Submitting CCCC Community Resource Service Announcements (not e-mail) to send us a new or updated, or to remove an Announcement;
    2. when composing your single paragraph announcement, that you do not use the Enter/Return key; leave only one space between words (not lines) using your Space Bar; use the backspace key to remove all extra spaces at the end of the single paragraph;
    3. your announcement must list your correct contact information -- leave only a single space (not return) before typing your e-mail address, but be sure to avoid beginning your address with the word “at” -- leave a space in between;
    4. if you have any references to photos or maps, these links must function correctly (make sure “others” have access) before you submit your request to us for publication;
    5. you must keep your announcements brief -- less than 100 words, again with no gaps nor returns, and that all content implicitly or explicitly conforms with our Contents & Announcement Criteria listed below.

Links & Attachments

    • Any links to online photos or maps which you should include are considered to be an extension of your announcement. Please be sure to check these for accuracy and complete appropriateness and compliance with our Policy.
    • Make sure that these links are secured so that "others" have access and can view them. We frequently see links included which were not set up correctly nor tested, making them inaccessible by our subscribers. Please have someone else (who is not logged on to your email or photo linking service as “you”) test your links before submitting your announcement. Important: make sure that your link does not attempt to download a zip or any other kind of bundled file to those opening your link (strictly against policy)!
    • Photographs must be of a quality appropriate to a church bulletin. Please do not include links which display photographs of individuals, including children (even for ministry pictures) in your announcement.
    • Be sure that your photo album links are limited to what you mention and do not access your personal/family album pages (check your security settings especially if using flickr or picasa or other photo services).
    • Please do not include any video links with your announcement.
    • We do not accept announcements with links to commercial websites (e.g., Craigslist, etc.). Please see Contents & Announcement Criteria below.

Contents, CCCC Values & Announcement Criteria

(these apply both to our web site and FaceBook pages)

    • The Chiangmai Christian Community Classifieds (CCCC) were originally part of the CMCC Church weekly bulletin and have grown so that others in our community can benefit as well. We continue to accept new announcement requests which we feel are consistent with our founding values of what one might publish in a church circular.
    • One of our original goals when the CCCC team founded this service in 2001 was to create an online neighborhood newsletter to assist individual volunteers, and families in transition, when setting up a home here in Thailand, or when leaving.
    • The population of Chiang Mai was much smaller back then and the CCCC was one of the only classifieds services in town. Now there are many such services available.
    • While our other goals included being an online neighborhood for community events, trainings, conferences and local community resources, after a few years later we discovered the CCCC was being used far too often as simply a commercial exchange for goods. Supporting this distracted our volunteer team from its main focus and mission.
    • In early 2015, we began an effort to de-emphasize the material and return the CCCC back to being a community online bulletin for announcements that would help folks navigate through the complexities of Chiang Mai living. A pleasant development was when we saw how orientation and life trainings/seminars began to increase.
    • In June of 2015, the CCCC stopped carrying miscellaneous one-off small household item announcements and began to encourage folks to use the many other services in Thailand that are better suited to buying and selling household items and vehicles.
    • In accordance with the above, all smaller nonessential one-off items announcements are now respectfully declined, along with any luxury items and any commercial announcements or transactions as well. Instead, please use services like Secondhand Chiangmai, eBay, Craigslist or other classifieds services in town. These have the infrastructures to better support more discretionary material interests.

Other Announcement Criteria

    • The CCCC volunteer team reserves the final right and authority to reject or modify all announcements before these would appear in the CCCC Community Resources or in the CCCC FaceBook group. This also applies to all announcements which do not conform to the CCCC guidelines and appropriateness to display in an online church bulletin. If there is evidence of trolling, suspected scamming or controversial content, the requested announcement will be declined and remain unpublished. Please be advised that your content may also be subject to being edited, condensed or modified as necessary to fit into the CCCC with consistency and adherence to the guidelines in this policy.
    • When families or individuals move, they will sometimes need to “thin out” their belongings. Accordingly we will allow occasional announcements of the disposition of personally owned household items, only if posted only as a yard sale event in our FaceBook group (must include a specific date, time and location).
    • If you find that your announcement runs over 100 words, consider using a link to an online spreadsheet or photo service which provides additional details.
    • Make sure that any URL or link that you choose to include is secured so that "others" can view, however, for photos do not allow any access whatsoever to personal/family photos.
    • We typically do not allow medical advice in the CCCC. There are aptly suited groups where you can request personnel medical advice such Chiang Mai Answers. However, if you need a local resource such as a where to find a specific kind of doctor, medical service or hospital, or are aware of special cases of an individual needing emergency blood donations (also if there is a community blood drive going on) you are welcome to post these here. The CCCC would of course allow for exceptions in the event of a local disaster or in case of individual or family emergencies.
    • Do not attempt to post YouTube or other videos. Nor should you posts podcasts. Many can be controversial and the CCCC volunteers do not have the time to carefully screen them.
    • The rule of thumb is do not submit a post to the CCCC (including our FaceBook group) which is not a local resource. The CCCC team does not have the capacity to monitor content from resources outside Thailand. Exceptions are for links such as re-entry seminars, places of stay and car rentals specifically designed for missionaries who are on furlough overseas.
    • Keep in mind that these community announcements are for non-commercial usage only. For office/home sublet or rentals, it is understood that that there will be no commission being paid or collected by the parties involved through these announcements.
    • Please be aware that the CCCC was never set up for selling or renting luxury or commercial items. This newsletter was established to mainly assist the volunteer workers who live in northern Thailand. We discourage anyone from developing unrealistic expectations or a false sense of self-entitlement for listing announcements which include high costs.
  • For those who have personal vehicles for sale, we now recommend that you use Expat Auto to verify the quality of your vehicle and to ensure that all vehicle registration and paper work is in order.
  • If we see a pattern of an individual or a family using the CCCC for a buy-and-resell type of hobby or side business (or any similar operation), further listings will be refused and the person(s) responsible will be revoed from our FaceBook group. Remember that the CCCC Classifieds were set up to assist volunteers to live and work in Thailand at a reasonable level. They were also put in place to help those same volunteers pass good values onto others when they leave.
    • Sublet announcements in our FaceBook group are only permitted for subscriber/volunteer tenants who are currently renting/leasing. Again, we expect to occasionally hear from someone only a few times during the entire time that they live in Thailand. We only list announcements for/by owners, landlords and agents once a year in our Community Resources (see following).
    • Housing Section (Community Resources) Landlords and representatives - are only allowed to run just one announcement every twelve months in any Business Services/Community Resources Housing section category. This single announcement must be short and general, and only describe the kind of properties being offered by the landlord - without excessive details. You must limit your announcement to less than 100 words and be fair to allow space for others. Remove your old announcement as soon as possible to keep this section from quickly crowding or being overrun. Kindly do not write to request special consideration/entitlement or any exceptions to this policy.
    • Housing Rentals - typically we do not post homes listed at a monthly rental above 35,000 baht. We also do not advertise high-end vacation homes nor do we list places to stay in other countries unless personally recommended for use as a retreat/rest during a home assignment. We do not accept AirBnB listings (by renter or owner) because of past misuse.
    • We do not list properties for sale.
    • Caveat emptor - We cannot assume responsibility for the validity and quality of items listed in the CCCC Classifieds.
    • The CCCC Classifieds were established for people to only post occasional announcements to assist them in moving, setting up, or managing a home. The Classifieds are not intended to be used to regularly post announcements from the same individual [or agency] unless for trainings which have high community interest. Furthermore, they are absolutely not to be used in any manner for conducting a personal or family business (either “on the side” or full-time).
    • Accordingly, the CCCC Classifieds are not be to used for selling new items but to give or pass on to others useful possessions which had been used by them long term. Again, the CCCC was originally set up to help those moving to pass on used items (this has been very helpful for newcomers to Chiang Mai who are setting up a home here for the first time).
    • For those agencies or individuals who would like to post a small business or who provide a needed community service, we will allow community service-minded announcements in Community Resources with content (implicit or explicit) which conforms to our Policy.
    • Note that all of our announcements are for listing community resources/services and are not intended for individual employment marketing as conducted by internet social/business services (e.g. LinkedIn).
    • People seeking employment working with children must enter their full name (as it appears on their passport or government identification) in the Name field of the CCCC Submit Form when requesting employment through the CCCC Classifieds. This information is for our records and will not appear in the announcement that is posted (there is a separate field in which to enter contact information that is displayed in the announcement.)
    • For wedding and personal commitment announcements, we recommend that people please contact local religious establishments directly. Please refer to the online Chiang Mai Map - CCCC or see our listing of business services in Community Resources.
    • We make it a practice of not listing announcements for internal medications. This is to protect both ourselves and others.
    • It is our policy to not publish announcements requesting international couriers/flight partners. It would put our subscribers at unnecessary risk and vulnerability in accompanying packages or crates, especially when they can not possibly inspect and guarantee what is contained in all inconspicuous cavities. Exceptions may be allowed to find someone to accompany another person in emergency/hardship cases or for delivering an open package or an official document (addressed for a trusted person they already know located in Thailand).
    • We do not to publish announcements for international companies advertising for employees in Thailand. This is to protect potential employees who would have very limited or no legal recourse in case of disputes or exploitation. We also have heard of cases where people have been scammed into paying money to unscrupulous individuals who have placed false information (hopefully never in the CCCC Classifieds) claiming to provide job placements for working for companies abroad.
    • Typically, we do not list or promote business services in other countries with the exception of transportation or a housing service that someone locally can personally recommend (such as an established service geared for people who temporarily return for home assignment).
    • We want to thank the team of CCCC volunteers who have faithfully published these announcements month after month in their spare time. Kindly write them at crfthailand@gmail.com if you have any questions or special requests.

Termination of Service

    • Understand that the Chiangmai Christian Community Classifieds is a free service with voluntary participation in a Christian community online newsletter. Rude, profane or offensive comments posted in an announcement or said to our staff (either verbal or written) will be grounds for Termination of Services (TOS) of the offending subscriber.
    • Other grounds for TOS are if the subscriber repeatedly does not follow the guidelines contained in this Policy Statement. This can include not using the Online Announcement Submit form to enter their announcement (and not consistently adhering to it instructions).
    • If the subscriber frequently bears on members of the CCCC Classifieds Team to publish his/her announcement after the beginning of that week deadline has passed.
    • If someone attempts the CCCC Classifieds to conduct a full-time or side-business (other than via a local resource suggestion through the Community Resources).
    • If there is evidence of price manipulation in a yard sale or downsizing sale announcement.
    • If the subscriber misrepresents his/her identity to the CCCC Team in Classifieds communications.
    • If the CCCC Classifieds attempts to correspond with the subscriber and messages are ignored or the subscriber does not respond in a timely manner.
