Hunter Education Course

Twice each summer we offer the Hunter Education Course offered by the Iowa DNR. This is the Classroom and Field day Course. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, and the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.

We offer a course in the spring and then again in the fall. Once you have successfully completed the course you will receive a certificate of completion and will meet all requirements in Iowa to purchase a Hunting license.

To get more information on this course and to register follow the following instructions:

1. On the internet go to www.iowadnr.gov site

2. On the site click on Hunting

3. On the Hunting page click on Hunter Education tab

4. On the Hunter Education page under Iowa Hunter Education Program at the bottom of the column is a tab-Hunter Education Registration - click on this.

5. Find the Class that is held at Izaak Walton League - Boone Valley and click on register

6. Click on the Tab titled Log In To Register

7. Follow the instructions on the register page if you have registered before fill in the information -Date of birth, Customer last name and Last four of SSN. If you have not registered before then you will need to hit the Create account button and register.

Important requirements prior to the classes start:

Pick up your manual at the Hamilton county Sheriff's office or Sports World in Webster City after registering. Please read and answer the chapter questions in the back of the manual prior to attending the class.
