GUIDELINES:
General Information
"The organization is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, and educational purposes
under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any
future federal tax code."
PURPOSE:
1. To pay homage and recognition to fallen brothers and sisters of music whom played out locally
in a band, or had viable and substantial influence on music locally. Honorable mention or/and
substantial musical influence can also be given in the case of producers, sound, promoting,
supporting local musicians and influential contributions. This is represented by an annual
Musicians Memorial show, on or about August 25. (or the second to last Sunday in August.)
Fundraisers to promote and enhance this memorial service are represented but not limited to
concerts, combination of shows, merchandise provisions or gifts in response to minimum level
donations, vending, camping, dice run, promoting, interviews, publications, flyers, donations,
non-profit marketing strategies, sponsorship acquisition, signature auction items, audio
recordings, etc.
2. To raise funds for the purpose of establishing a “Wall of Fame” to be further determined by the
committee of members, with final decisions in the hands of the founders and active participating
crew members of over 6 months. This should have inscribed/etched the nominees name and a
brief description of his/her term of musical influence in our community.
3. To activate a perpetual endowment fund entitled “Chautauqua County Local Legends of Music
Memorial Fund” which will begin to produce a yearly investment return upon reaching $5000. The
investment dollars will be distributed to the most needy music program in Chautauqua County for
use in the classroom for the local (Chautauqua County) purchase of musical instruments for
students.
4. To inspire students at a young age to discover music, the interest of advancement of music
education, to become knowledgeable of local legends which have made contributions to the
music scene and industry of music in Chautauqua County, and provide a safe concert
environment for them to become influenced by local musicians without requiring them to be 21
to preview and enjoy musicians and music locally where alcohol is not the main purpose of its
venue nor provided.
5. To provide an avenue for local small businesses/individuals to advertise, distribute business
cards, become a sponsor and be noticed in the community for their own contribution to the fund,
in the promotion of raising local dollars for schools as well as to help small businesses to gain
ground in the ability to give back to the community, support the children of our community, help
their businesses popularity , to help support and generate local small businesses with the use of
business logos in advertising on merchandise, flyers, stage ad boards, and providing donations
either monetarily or material needs to support the shows and or the fund and fundraisers. Local
businesses can offer a token which represents their business such as a car wash, a pizza, a
discount, or free product or service for auction, raffle and/or distribution to raise funds to
help support the annual memorial service and other purposes under this organization.
6. To raise funds for specific campaigns for and within local school districts by providing flyers to
guidance counselors and music teachers for distribution to raise awareness in schools for
assemblies in schools and performances, dance hosted by a local band in their gymnasium,
arranged to embrace the student body’s emotional needs such as but not limited to Suicide
Prevention, Students Against Drunk Driving, and Autism Awareness.
7. To support families in their loss and in the raising of funds for the families of the local
musicians at shows created for the organization, performances in and outside of the
organization, or at local musicians events whom have been nominated and or may be nominated
in the future through strategies such as but not limited to merchandise provisions or gifts in
response to minimum level donations, requesting donations, flyers, publications, benefits,
memorial services and celebrations of life.
GUIDELINES: A CELEBRATION OF LIFE
*Annual August show must consist of only 7 nominees.
Each represented by a minimum 8x10 photo on stage and at least one other option: Video, story
on stage by someone, submitted bio, CD played during intermission, or other tribute to the
nominee.
*Nominees must have participated in a local band in Chautauqua County.
*Nominees must have been passed on for a minimum of 5 years. This provision is to allow families
time to accentuate on and perform their own benefit, memorial or fund-raising for personal
support in their time of need for expenses/needs they may have as a result.
*Nominees must have actually performed out at a venue, had an actual band name and
participated at a venue regularly as a musician, roadie, or supporting crew such as sound, lights
or management. [ADDENDUM 1; 8/2023: Nominees can reside up to 20 minutes outside Chautauqua County, IF played regularly at Chautauqua County venues to be 'OF' CCLLOMMF. Nominee to include those which commuted from but not limited to Cattaragus, and Warren Counties.]
*A direct family member(mother, father, wife, husband) or beneficiary of the nominee must
complete the consent form for release to nominate. (Except in extreme cases where no primary
or secondary family members exist locally) Documented attempts of contact must be filed and
supported.
*Informational fact verification is required from the actual public obituary will be utilized as the
basis to represent dates and band/musical involvement of the nominee. This obituary will remain
on file with the organization.
*Family members and close friends will be prompted and encouraged to write a bio or story,
speak at at show on the nominees behalf and submit photos, musical works and or videos to the
fund, as well as influenced to become a committee member and participate at events and shows
if they wish.
*Bands and/or an individual in the band on the lineup, performing at the August annual Memorial
show should have worked with musically, or have personally known at least one of the years'
nominees so they may say a few words on his/her behalf at the show onstage over the microphone.
In the event of last minute, show stopping arrangements only, should a band/ individual band
members participate whom did not know any of the nominees this year. [Trubadour to learn dedications for

*All participants in shows (donating bands, emcee, auctioneer, staff members and street team,
stage crew, cleanup crew, vending crew, vendors (when most possible small local businesses
looking for advertisement) founders, photographers, coolers, door attendants, decorating
committee, technical support, and venues will be volunteers only and are not paid by the funds
raised, with the exception of but not limited to a minimum of 3 member decision making team to
viable production/preservation needs such as recording costs(preserving the show), minimal
necessary expenses(ice), portable toilets, sound, lights, printing, merchandise, transportation
provided and venue.
*Nominee selection is based upon all of the above and specifically in the case of item 4, a
different nominee may be substituted to provide support to the needs of the show/fund in order
to progress in the purpose of the organization.(ex: a person whom is nominated by completion a
nomination card on site or in writing, may be deselected if no information, incomplete information
is unavailable, specifically life dates, correct spelling of name, or complete name given or band
names, and can tabled for a future year(as soon as documented information is received) and
substituted by a new nominee (substitute sponsors/donors must present viable/documented
information) to serve/support the need of a show stopping incident such as, but not limited to, but
only for further support of the show, such as venue, booking a band slot, or other primary
needs of the organization to continue.
*Musical instruments provided by our fund are to remain property of the school district and are to
remain a part of the classroom.
*Music programs are required to provide information to the fund for performances utilizing which
instruments so committee members are aware of the upcoming performance may attend, promote
and the fund is able to list performances and track instruments of which have been supported by
the fund.
*Show photographers will be encouraged to “catch a kid being inspired” at least one per show.
This includes taking a photo, and a video of the aspiring musician and having parents consent to
publicize it for promoting the fund via Facebook, Youtube, and the website.
