Principal's Welcome

Dear George Washington High School Families and Community,

Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 school year! We are excited to have students back on campus, filling our classrooms and hallways with their energy and enthusiasm for learning.

The mission of George Washington High School is to provide opportunities for students to become lifelong learners who think critically, and strive to reach their full potential while maintaining mental and physical health. Washington High School students will grow to be resilient, productive, and contributing members of their communities. As your Principal, I understand that our mission cannot be achieved without the support and collaboration of our families and community.

The first day of school is Monday, August 20th. If you are the parent/guardian of an incoming 9th grader, please make sure to attend freshman orientation on August 17th. I also want to remind every family to complete an SFUSD meal application by following the instructions included in this packet. The meal applications are important to Washington High School because much of our school funding is determined by the number of meal applications submitted. Students who are eligible for meal benefits may also qualify for other programs (i.e. scholarships, jobs, internships).

High school is a critical and exciting time for a student and their family. We want our students to grow intellectually, creatively, culturally, physically and emotionally so they can achieve their maximum potential and are ready for whatever life path they choose. At Washington, we embrace the challenges of the future while we continue to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past.
