Readtheory.org

What is this? ReadTheory is an amazing free website that focuses on reading comprehension, analysis, and vocabulary development. Being reflective, I realized that most of the ELA homework last quarter was to finish unfinished work. While this is definitely important, I also realized many students didn't have much to finish. Thus, here we are. The assigned amount is for students to complete ten passages a week on ReadTheory. They are fairly short in length, but the amount of questions vary per passage.

How does it work? ReadTheory starts with assessing students using a pretest as a baseline. The text complexity and difficulty of questions fluctuates. At the end of the assessment, ReadTheory will assign the student a grade level based on their responses and work with them to grow from there. I have posted a chart for students to document their weekly progress in Google Classroom. This will go towards their grades for homework completion, not for accuracy.
