Holy Cuck!

by Charlie Porter

Have you ever been in love? Besotted, even? I have.

I’m Johnny Barker, and I live in my girlfriend’s basement. It’s nice down here! I’m well-fed, sheltered, loved, and all I have to do is tidy up here and there – who wouldn’t want that? That being said, some strange things have been happening lately. Like the door being locked from the outside. Or the strange noises coming from the upstairs. Or the weird box of old knick-knacks that I found belonging to other people.

It’s nothing, right? Right...

Holy Cuck! is a musical production detailing the mundane life and epic death of Johnny Barker, thrall to a malevolent creature known as The Madame. Watch the spectacle that is his life and ask yourself – what can you forgive, and what would you rather forget?

Content Warnings: Abuse, strong language, nudity, blood, violence, death.
Not suitable for those under the age of 18.

With thanks to Samantha Werner for musical accompaniment, and supporting actor Holly Mills.

Feminism Innit?
by Holly Mills

Fem-In is a piece where I explore my experience with both feminism and misogyny through my own text as well as monologues from Mary Stuart by Friedrich Schiller (Character: Elizabeth) and The Lark by Jean Anouilh (Character: Joan).

Both of these monologues and the script are meant to expand the way we look at women through the eyes of the stage.

How will you perceive me? A loud woman who wont get off her soap box for one second to realise men have feelings too? Or maybe you’ll listen? Take what I say to heart and think, after all, misogyny happens every day to all shapes, sizes and classes of women.

If you can turn away then why can’t you turn away now?

Death by..?
by Sandy Campbell

Death and dying can be a sensitive subject, but neither is unavoidable.

The story follows a young man's journey to his death and his reasons for wishing to die. Through the experience of his friends, you get a glimpse into his life, and his death as we delve into the deeper questions, can we play God?

Content Warnings:  Mention of Suicide/Assisted Dying/Strong Language/Sexual References

NOW

by Judy Moon

Within this contemporary autonomous performance, by using an autobiographical approach, I will explore how my pursuit of perfectionism is incongruent with my creative authenticity. NOW is an Avant-Garde piece, drawing on elements of Postmodernism, with hints of Theatre of the Absurd.

As a predominantly contemplative and self-reflective performance, my aim is to identify the oppressive effect of the everyday patterns of a students existence.  I’m intent on dismantling my monotonous structure of perfectionism and transform the frame of reference to veritable artistic expression, by engaging with the irrational process of letting go of control and processing the stages of grief that ensues.

My intention is to create a space for experiencing freedom of expression and self-exploration, imbued with honestly, compassion and care for the process. Offering a relationship with the audience that enables a transformative and memorable experience.
