Ceanothus Maritimus "Valley Violet"

Valley Violet, Ceanothus maritimus

This small variety of ceanothus was introduced by the UC Davis Arboretum in 2010.

It forms a low rounded shrub with stiff stems and small leathery leaves.


Sun Requirements: Sun with afternoon shade

Growth habit: grows to 2 feet tall, and 4 feet wide

Water: Drought tolerant once established, needs little summer watering

Bloom: early spring blooms with clusters of small blue purple flowers.
