The Mummy's Foot

The Mummy's Foot is a gothic short story by the French writer Théophile Gautier, first published in 1840. It relates the fantastical tale of a contemporary man and the adventures which befall him when he ventures into a Parisian curiosity shop and buys the four-thousand-year-old foot of Princess Hermonthis.

The Red Room

The Red Room is a short horror story written by H.G. Wells and published in 1894. It follows a confident young sceptic-the unnamed narrator of the story-as he attempts to spend the night in an infamously haunted room in a castle.

The Tell-Tale Heart

"The Tell-Tale Heart" is a short story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe, first published in 1843. It is related by an unnamed narrator who endeavors to convince the reader of the narrator's sanity while simultaneously describing a murder the narrator committed.

The Monkey's Paw

"The Monkey's Paw" is a supernatural short story by author W. W. Jacobs, first published in England in the collection The Lady of the Barge in 1902. In the story, three wishes are granted to the owner of The Monkey's Paw, but the wishes come with an enormous price for interfering with fate.

The Masque of the Red Death

The "Red Death" has killed half the population. Prince Prospero summons a thousand of his friends to join him in the safety of an abbey. It's full of provisions and entertainments. The doors are sealed. They plan on waiting out the scourge. The Prince throws a magnificent masked ball.
