Grades

See my homepage to see the progress report and schedule for this year. Parents, remember to visit Engrade and Infinite Campus to always be aware of your child's grades, even before grade reports are distributed.

A hard copy of the 7th grade social studies syllabus is available upon your request.

Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements, including attendance. The teacher will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades. After school tutoring is also available.

Grades and Recovery Policy

GRADING WEIGHTS

(revised Aug 2017)

Students may make up missed assignments due to absences in accordance with the student handbook. Students should not expect to complete missed work during normal class time, but should make other arrangements with the teacher to complete a missed lesson (i.e. after school, for homework, lunch and learn time, etc.). Students must make up assignments when absent. It is the student's responsibility to be assertive and find out his/her make-up work to complete. Failure to complete missed assignments on time will result in a failing grade.

Students who are failing and who have completed all assignments prior to the end of the semester may conference with me to discuss alternatives for recovery. It is critical that students do their best each semester. Both the fall and spring semester grades must average to a yearly final of at least a 70% to successfully pass the grade. Students must pass all classes in order to be promoted to the next grade.

Grades and Absences

According to ________________ Board of Education policy, upon returning to school following an absence, it is the student's responsibility to contact the teachers to request makeup work. Makeup work must be completed by the student within the time specified by the teacher.

GRADING SCALE

The following chart lists the dates parents can expect a progress report to come home through their child. Any missing assignment needs to be submitted several days before these dates. This ensures enough time for grading and recording. Any items submitted after this period will be reflected on the next progress report. Both semesters must average to a 70% for promotion to the next grade. If you have not already, please register for the __________________ to always be informed of your child's grades. Progress Reports and Report Card Dates

Please read the comments listed on the student's progress report every 4.5 weeks regarding class performance. Teacher, student, and parents should communicate consistently to discuss student progress so that each party is aware of class standing throughout the semester.
