hey guys this post is going to be a review of the spalding nba 54 portable angled basketball hoop with polycarbonate backboard be looking at from four different categories one of which is going to be the aesthetics, the ease of build, the overall stability of it and the build quality and ease of use of the basal hoop.

so without further ado let's go ahead and get into it so starting off with the aesthetics, I would say the basal hoop looks pretty good if you look at it from up close or from afar it's it looks good it looks like how a basketball hoop should look.

it doesn't look cheap because it's not filled in with all the different colors but at the same time don't look super premium either because it's not like all the materials are very thick or anything it is like a nice little balance of where it should be the backboard is clear the lines are drawn on very solidly.

there's no fraying of any of the colors the white lines with the orange rim a very classic look so I don't really have any complaints of how the thing looks because it looks fine.

I think now second we're talking about the ease of build. I would say easily that this is the strongest portion of this particular product or this Spalding NBA 54 portable angled basketball hoop with polycarbonate backboard because it really was pretty easy to put together the manuals are very detailed.

it's very straightforward there's not a bunch of hoops to really jump through I built it with three other people so four people in total and really I don't think it's absolutely necessary to have four people I think ideally you should have two to three just because moving around the different parts and putting the parts together.

It would be easier and more efficient if you do it by yourself. I think you can do it by yourself but it'd probably be pretty hard to do the holes oh sorry the screw holes and all the different connecting parts all fit how they should the parts are very snug and even for myself and all the people I was working with.

We didn't really have a ton of technical know-how but we still put the thing together with four people.

it took us about three and a half or four hours to put it together I think it can be done with two to three people and about the same time because a lot of times with four people.

It really was overkill but hey the more the merrier. I would take the help if i can get it but other than that if you look at the rest of the the build all the parts were fairly solid.

there wasn't any fraying or chipping or anything like that and since the instructions were very easy you didn't really need a ton of focus to really know how to put it together that being said I still made some mistakes here and there.

i think there's some other videos on YouTube on how to build this thing I probably should have watched it but i really didn't i just looked at the manual and were able to get it get it done so strong point I would say ease of build all the way up there next is going to be the stability and the sturdiness of the build I would say you know on the flip side.

this is a little bit of the weaker portion of this particular vessel the parts themselves don't feel super heavy duty they feel like a medium-ish quality it doesn't feel super cheap either the plastics are like a medium type of feel.

They don't feel super cheap but you know they don't they really can't take that much of a beating.

you'll see a couple clips of me throwing the basketball on the who it kind of just eats the force what I mean is that you'll throw it at the backbone it'll just like instead of bounce back it'll just kind of hit it and then drop same thing with the rim.

the rim is pretty like flimsy but it's saving grace is that you can dunk it and it has a spring on there so it kind of the force gets distributed it's not really much of a problem um what I did find a little confusing was when i shot the basketball and let's just say I didn't swish it it hit like the rim or the backward or something.

it would kind of sway a little bit not to the point where I felt like it was going to fall over but you know it wasn't like solidly on there.

I think this would be the same for any portable angled basketball hoop with polycarbonate backboard that you would get uh unless you have a super premium one where it's like locked into the floor and all the parts are really heavy but for what you're getting this.

i think this is probably pretty standard what I didn't like about it was the base the where you're supposed to add in water to really hold it in place the amount of water that you can put in there is personally I don't think it's enough i think you need to lock it down a little bit further so maybe throw some bags of sand on there or get a diy like the anchor into the grass.

if you want to do that i think that's really where it's weakest portion because you know when you when you hit the ball on the side of the backboard in a swing you really don't want that thing falling over especially if you're parking your car next to it or or whatever it may be the wind was a concern because at where I live there the weather with the wind is it's a little scary from time to time.

so when it's a little bit heavier wind or heavier rain I'll go ahead and bring the backboard down just so that it doesn't take up all the wind and get pushed over but otherwise I'm you know it is what it is right it's a medium medium quality build of portable angled basketball hoop and finally we get to build quality and usability I would say the build quality is pretty good because it comes with polycarbonate backboard.

all the parts fit like how they're supposed to fit the screws line up uh the parts that need to work are working correctly so for example the wheels roll smoothly the adjustable lever for you to go higher and lower works very smoothly.

it's not particularly hard to do you don't need a ton of force it you know it's good the hoop itself in terms of the rim you can dunk on it it'll flex to where it needs to be it's not a problem the plastics themselves are sturdy enough not super premium but not super super cheap.

so it does feel okay there my only gripe about it is that the measurements of the height of where it should be is just slightly off in my particular build it was off about an inch so what i mean by that is at the lowest setting i have it at seven and a half.

if you measure it from the floor to the rim it is going to be an inch shorter and that's consistent with each click of the lever that you go along the way so a seven five is actually seven four and when you get up all the way to ten feet is actually nine foot eleven inches to me.

it really doesn't matter because you know it's it's so minor of a difference that it really shouldn't be impacting anything but for those of you who want everything to be exact just know that at least on my model. it was short an inch i would go ahead and say like maybe you should measure yourself to see if there's a deviation on yours.

it might not be but on mine there is so my overall thoughts on this particular Spalding NBA 54 portable angled basketball hoop with polycarbonate backboard is that I would recommend it if you're looking to pick up a Spalding portable angled basketball hoop with polycarbonate backboard.

This is like a right in the middle basketball hoop where uh it is better than the super cheap ones but it's not as good as the premium ones yeah at the same time.

it does everything it needs to do and it does it look just fine right it doesn't get all the frills all the bells and whistles none of that it just does what it needs to do if you're considering a picking up a portable angled basketball hoop that is cheaper just for the sake of being cheaper.

I would recommend that you would save the money up just to pick up this one instead because it is you know it does what it needs to do and it's worth the money for what you pay.

I'm happy with the product itself and I would recommend it to anybody looking to pick up this particular hoop and that's my review on this particular Spalding NBA 54 portable angled basketball hoop with polycarbonate backboard. hopefully it was helpful for you in making a decision whether or not you.
