My research

Whiteboard system diagrams for the Articulate project, 2016

I work to create environments and systems to support data exploration and collaboration. Many of these environments are 'beyond the desktop', with large and immersive displays, and accept interactions 'beyond mouse and keyboard', such as mid-air gestures or speech. I have collaborated with researchers at UIC, UC Davis, Argonne National Labs and bacterial genomics researchers in industry, to address 'big data' challenges in biological research, and have served as an intern at MIT Lincoln Lab, to explore visualization approaches for crowd-sourced incident reports in Central Africa.
