About Us

The CGS-MB Student Chapter is a student-led organization founded by the Canadian Geotechnical Society to develop a bridge between industry professionals and Manitoban students.

Our Mission

We support CGS National and CGS Manitoba Section in their mission to pursue excellence and technical expertise within the field of geotechnical engineering and geoscience. Our goal as a Student Chapter is primarily focused on professional development of students and advancing the education of members in the field of geotechnical engineering. The Manitoba Section CGS Student Chapter strives to improve communication between the CGS Manitoba Section (local chapter of CGS) and student body and increase awareness of the geotechnical field through various public service activities. The Manitoba Section CGS Student Chapter is involved in three main areas: technical activities, community service, and social events.

Expanding Knowledge

To advance our members' knowledge in the geotechnical field, we hold monthly technical presentations from industry professionals and graduate students to expand their knowledge outside of the classroom. Additionally, the chapter sponsors student teams to attend the Midwest Regional GeoWall Competition to gain practical experience.

Professional Development

Members can create connections to the industry and build professionalism by attending technical presentations and our yearly networking event.

Build Community

Develop meaningful relationships within the Geotechnical community by getting involved in the Midwest Regional Geowall Competition, fundraisers, and social events.
