Things to Consider...

Transportation - Large instruments are not permitted on the school bus. This means that students who choose to play:

cello, bass, French horn, baritone, tuba, drum, and bells

will need to transport their instruments to and from school on lesson days. The music teachers may be able to find an extra instrument for you to use at school, so you don't have to transport your own!

Borrowing a Friend or Family Member's Old Instrument - Some families choose to borrow from a friend or family member. Some borrowed instruments might require a little bit of work to be brought into good, usable condition for a new student to be successful. Please contact your school's band or orchestra teacher to ask them to look it over before lessons start.

Requesting an Instrument Due to Financial Hardship - Carlisle Area School District is proud to keep an inventory of school instruments that can be loaned out free of charge to students in financial need. We believe EVERY child should have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument regardless of financial barriers. To have your child considered for this program, please complete the online registration process under the "Registration" tab and request to be considered.
