Thank you for your agreement on implementing the project of my dissertation at your school. The following are some information to help you implement the project . (Please send me an email to be able to get your contact details to prepare certificates of appreciations from the United Arab University because of your participation in the project as research assistants)

The title of the dissertation is “Unleashing Multimodal Literacy by Employing WhatsApp to Promote UAE 10th Graders’ EFL Writing, Motivation and Intercultural Competence”. This dissertation is supervised by College of Education (UAE University) and approved by Abu Dhabi Educational Council to be implemented at ADEC’s Public schools. Your role as a research assistant in implementing the research would be as follows;

• Collect consent forms from students'parents. Consent Form Eng. Consent Form Ar

- Administering a pretest for all your grade 10 students after recycling persuasive writing (Before 21^st February2017)

- Implement writing lesson plans recyclying T1 & T2 themes emphasizing writing about culture to prepare students for EMSA writing Test.

- Make use of he Australian UC High School Writing Booklet to improve your students' writing skills. Also, self and peer writing checking form is extremely useful to improve students' writing.

- Use WhatsApp with one of your classess (see the steps of forming WhatsApp group below) where they discuss and submit their assignments and make sure that you do not give them any feedback through WhatsApp. You can just monitor them and write your feedback to be given in class.

For the other class ( or classess), students collaborate in class doing their tasks and discussing them.

Provide all students with feedback in class.

- Administering a questionnaire and a post-writing test to students (After the EMSA writing test- March)

Below is an online form to receive responses of the questionnaire but please make sure that students have answered the first two questions. Also, there is an English Copy of the questionnaire for EMTs to help students understand items of the questionnaire.

Steps to form a WhatsApp group:

1- Save the contact details of your students to your contacts.

2- Click WhatsApp icon in your phones.

3- Go to Chats

4- Go to New Group

5- Name the group ( Teacher......(Your Name)................ Group).

6- Add a group icon related to T3 theme ( Optional).

7- Watch this video if you want more help.

Please email me ( through your personal email not ADEC email) once you finished forming the group telling me about the number of participants in the group to send you the resources to be used with the experimental group and the control one.
