TESDA-SNCAT TESDAmayan Activity: Giving light and hope to the Indigenous People (IPs) of San Juan, Alegria, Surigao del Norte amidst the crisis brought by the COVID-19 pandemic

Surigao del Norte - As TESDA intensifies its effort to ensure and support food security, provide services to reduce poverty, to improve income and employment opportunities through empowering communities in line with Sec. Isidro S. Lapena’s, PhD, CSEE thrust on “TESDA Abot Lahat” and TESDA Caraga CARES mantra spearheaded by RD Tarhata S. Mapandi, CESO III, the Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology headed by the College Administrator II, Ms. Abegail B. Eupeńa, successfully conducted TESDAmayan services last August 27, 2021.


“TESDAmayan” refers to the Agency’s aid to communities in need of direct and immediate assistance, affected by any crisis brought about by natural calamities, disasters, or any other untoward incidents which caused displacement among the residents. TESDA embraces the distinct sympathetic nature of the Filipinos, who are always ready to help their kababayans in distress.


As one of our TESDAmayan initiatives, SNCAT successfully extended its assistance to a total of 36 Households of identified Indigenous People (IPs) from Brgy. San Juan, Alegria, Surigao del Norte in line with the weeklong celebration of TESDA’s 27th Anniversary this coming August 23-27, 2021.


As part of the activity, SNCAT conducted a Community Based Training on Handicraft Making (Banig Weaving) to the Housewives/Female IPs of the said community; distributed food packs which contained agricultural produce such as rice, beef meat and cookies; and a feeding activity to the young children of IPs of the said community.
