July 26, 2021 - In line with the directives of our TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña to embark a new program to accelerate the establishment of Farm Schools, Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology (SNCAT) is awarded with a certificate as Learning Site for Agriculture by the Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) -Caraga at Magpayang, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.

The awarding certified the registration of SNCAT as “Savvy Diversified Farm” classified as a farming LSA effective June 10, 2021 and valid until June 10, 2026. This was initiated by the distinguished personnel of Agricultural Training Institute (ATI)-Caraga supervised by Samuel L. Calonzo, ATI-Caraga Center Director and attended by the head of the institution, Ms. Abegail B. Eupeña, College Administrator II, together with all the Division Chief of SNCAT and selected faculty and staff from Farm Services Division.

As lone agricultural school in the province of Surigao del Norte, this endeavor forms part to the aim of SNCAT with the support of TESDA Caraga Regional Director, Tarhata S. Mapandi to be registered as Farmer’s Field School. Also, to ensure that the middle-level farmers and fisher folks and their families, relatives and members of the farm communities gain the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude to increase productivity and improve their economic status amidst the crises brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
