Our Teaching Methods 教學理念

Following the pedagogic lineage of Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, and Bela Bartok, the teaching methods of Suono Music Studio combine piano study of popular music from our time and the past with listening, singing, movement, improvisation, and composition activities in a friendly learning environment.

Suono Music Studio believes in the formative values of music in developing logical reasoning, mental concentration, emotional intelligence, and realization of the unique self in each student.

Applying the innovative principles of Music Learning Theory by the late Dr. Edwin E. Gordon, Suono Music Studio teaches music as an unique language in our human society, which can be immediately understood through sensorial experience, social interaction, and emotional context.

The combination of musicianship and piano lessons at Suono Music Studio is inspired by legendary pedagogic models such as those taught by J.S. and C.P.E. Bach, Carl Czerny, Robert Schumann, and Marilyn Lowe. This setting offers students the opportunity to develop musical skills with peers and apply them in improvisation, composition, and piano performance.

The exposure to live musical performances is crucial to developing the habit of music listening and appreciation. Suono Music Studio organizes regular concert field trips in GTA to bring students of all ages and musical skill levels to the most stimulating musical performances available in such metropolis as Toronto. To help students find comfort and confidence in their music-making, Suono Music Studio hosts frequent performance activities and workshops to create a playful learning community for everyone.
