Musicianship/Theory Classes & Piano/Theory/Composition Lessons 課程簡介

Inspired by the innovative Gordon Music Learning Theory and such pedagogic models as established by the great Bach family, Czerny, and Bela Bartok, the combination of piano lesson with musicianship class at Suono Music Studio offers students an opportunity to develop comprehensive musical skills and apply them in piano performance, improvisation, and composition.

Activities in musicianship class include listening, singing, improvising, composing music, and regular solo and ensemble piano performance. It allows children to optimize their development of body awareness, coordination, music literacy, as well as aural and pianistic skills.

Through social interaction in the musicianship class, students raise their interests, improve their musical abilities, and learn how to share their enjoyment of music with people of similar age.

Musicianship/Theory Classes*

Introduction to

Musical Immersion for Young Beginner Pianists

When scheduling permits, this combination of weekly musicianship and piano lessons (designed especially for young piano students) establishes the musical, intellectual, and social foundations of music-making.

Private Lessons

Private Piano Lessons

Our pedagogic approach and musical materials are drawn from a wide selection of timeless popular music and tailored to the individual needs of each student.

Instead of mechanical repetition and passive learning, musical and cultural exposures are used to develop music literacy and create understanding. As their understanding and music literacy develop, students' attention span and interest also increase.

Students shall develop listening skills not only to communicate their feelings in musical sounds, but also to acquire social abilities to express ideas, understand others, and develop confidence.

It is highly recommended that students take private piano lesson in combination with musicianship class.

Applied Harmony/Counterpoint/Composition/ History Lessons (RCM Theory 8 and up)

Theory is taught through musical practice to develop a vocabulary of melody and rhythm, as well as the understanding of harmonic structure and function of compositional forms.

By learning to write their own compositions, students acquire music literacy, the ability to understand the music they read, hear, and play.

For theory-only students, we start from RCM level 8 and go all the way up to ARCT. For lower RCM theory levels, the learning content is integrated into our piano lessons and not taught separately.
