The Job Hunt as Enterprise

You may have heard that you have to treat looking for a job as a job in itself. That's true enough - I've said it, myself - but it doesn't go far enough.

In reality, looking for a job is an enterprise. That makes you an entrepreneur. Nothing is going to happen if you don't make it happen. You'll perform many roles in this enterprise, including:

  • Marketing Director

  • Product Manager

Your product is you. As a salesman or saleswoman, you'll be promoting your product, cultivating leads and closing deals.

As a marketing director, you'll be defining you, the product. You'll be identifying your product features, and how they stack up against the competition. You'll be defining your target market in order to focus your sales efforts.

As product manager, you may choose to add features to your product to make it more attractive to your prospective customers.
