About Me

I am Professor for Strategy (W3) at the University of Cologne, Spokesperson of the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy (University of Bonn and University of Cologne) and Director of the Reinhard Selten Institute (University of Bonn and University of Cologne). I am also research affiliate of CEPR (London) and the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods (Bonn).

In my research, I study the causal effects of management practices (e.g., incentive schemes, managerial attention, employee referral programs) on workers’ performance and behavior and firm performance in RCTs in firms.

I have published my papers in leading management and economics journals, such as the American Economic Review, Management Science, and Organization Science. One of my papers is “invited to revise and resubmit” at the Journal of Political Economy.

Over the last six years I have received six research awards and one award for my work on equal opportunity.
