THE CLUB

ABOUT US

Who are we?

The science club consists of students at W. L. Mackenzie C. I. who are curious about how the world works. The club is run by the executive consisting of active club members. The team was chosen by the staff advisors after a grueling application process. They are all volunteers who have a passion for making science relevant to you!

What do we do?

The Mackenzie Science Club runs weekly science-related events to help our members dive deeper into the field of STEM. Our events are a great way to stay engaged and meet new people! We also host the Mackenzie Science and Engineering Olympics every spring, where middle schools from all across Toronto compete in Olympic-style events.

Who can join?

You do not have to be taking any science courses, you do not have to have good marks in science. You only need to be curious, willing to try new things and enjoy working with others. Students from all grades are welcome.

Why should you join?

It's free! You get to meet new friends with similar interests. It is a safe place for you to make mistakes while having fun. You can learn from mentors and develop leadership skills. Becoming a member also makes you eligible to participate in the university science olympics held each year at McMaster, York, Guelph and Western. As well, every year our club organizes and hosts a science olympics for middle school students. You could be an ambassador for your middle school!

How do you join?

First, we recommend that you come out to experience what we do. We have a membership meeting at the beginning of each school year where we will have more information about the club. It will also be an opportunity for you to get a taste of the type of activities run at our weekly events. For specific dates, times and location of our membership meeting, see the calendar and the annoucements on the homepage.

If you missed our membership meeting and you're still interested in joining, send us an email at msc.reps@gmail.com
