Longhorsley Welcomes “Woolly Bero”
The Illuminated Sheep has arrived on the village green. There were prizes for the naming competition, with the names of all participants displayed on bunting throughout the village, and welcoming events in a number of locations. The Sheep will be on the green until the end of November.

Councillor Vacancy
Our thanks and best wishes go to Andy Hedman who has recently resigned his position of councillor due to heavy work commitments.
As a result, we now have a vacancy on the Parish Council which can be filled by co-option. If you are interested in becoming a Councillor, please contact the Clerk with your details and a brief resume of why you would like to join the Council, by 6th November.
We hope to meet any prospective candidates before the Council meeting on 9th November and make a decision on the night.
Old Church Wood
There was a successful working party in Old Church Wood on Sunday 16th October. We cleared the overgrowth from the new hedgerows on the west side, strimmed the east side ready for planting a new hedgerow in December and made a start on weeding the southern hedgerow. The areas round the benches have been strimmed and the step on the section of footpath going from the bus stop to the gate has been repaired.
Many thanks to those who took part.
Archies Pond
The remaining section of footpath, at Archies Pond, will be having a top layer of dust applied and compacted over the coming weeks in order to even out the surface.
New Bat and Bird boxes will also be installed as a measure to encourage wildlife in the area.
Moor Area
Dog walkers are reminded to keep their dogs on a leash whilst out on the Moor as there have been incidents of dogs approaching the wild ponies and sheep.
Your County Councillor
The County Council public consultation which has invited thoughts on a possible memorial or memorials to Queen Elizabeth closes shortly and we have had over 900 suggestions! I hope we will be able to look at a number of ideas for across the County which will reflect Her Majesty’s love of nature and the countryside.

It is open to applications for organisations in Northumberland and we will be discussing how to apply and the kinds of projects that will be eligible.
