Longhorsley WI

At our October meeting we welcomed 2 visitors and 14 members who enjoyed a scenic tour around the west coast of Norway, courtesy of Carol Burnett. She demonstrated the variety of building styles and materials used in a range of buildings from cottages to cathedrals.

On Thursday 4th November at 7.30 pm we hope to welcome Nick Johnson from the Veteran Tree Project Northumbria. The aim of this project is to identify, map and celebrate ‘Ancient, veteran, heritage and notable trees’ across the regions of Newcastle, N. Tyneside and Northumberland. By so doing the project will help to conserve and protect these trees for generations to come - to enjoy the pleasure and benefits that they provide. Please join us, if you are interested.

On Saturday 6th November we will be ‘planting’ our poppies around the Village Green for Remembrance Day and would be grateful for your help. Please meet on the Green at around 10.30am. There is a box in the Village Hall for any further completed poppies until Friday, 5th. Many thanks!

Any information, please contact Marian Chilvers, Secretary 788351
