Longhorsley Village Hall has re-opened but the majority of groups have decided to wait until September to restart.
If you use the hall remember that Covid rules for face covering and social distancing still apply.

Due to work commitments and our little ones not being so little any more the current organisers of the Thursday morning Toddler group will not be able to run the group from September when it reopens so we’re looking for new helpers!
Please contact me if you can help or would like more information.
Many thanks, Kathryn Fox 788880 Kathryn.sfox@gmail.com
There will be no organised car sharing and we will meet at the start point of each walk as specified by the walk leader. There will be no organised pub lunch after the walk, however where suitable there may be the option of a picnic lunch.
The walks are usually 4 to 6 miles long and it’s a good idea to bring a drink and energy snack on the walk.
The planned walks for July and August are:
Monday 5th July: Breamish Valley, organised by Jan and Sheena 07801 005634.
Thursday 15th July: Harthope Valley, organised by Estelle 07803 137279.
Monday 2nd August: Acklington, organised by Penny 788278.
Thursday 19th August: Humbleton Hill, organised by Brenda 788470.
For more information please contact Jan & Sheena 07801 005634

Playgroup are now open Mondays10:30am till 6pm, Tue/Wed/Thur 7:30am till 6pm and Fridays 7:30am till 1:30pm.
We have been learning about different directions. We have been going on daily adventures and the children chose which direction we go. Left, Right or Forward. We never know where we are going to end up so have started taking snacks and water bottles with us for the journey home.
Remember you can follow all of playgroups adventures by following us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
We try and post as many updates as we can so you can see what we are up too.

Longhorsley juniors have now finished all games for the season but are still training on the common.
The kids have had a great season and we are looking to have 6 teams next year, u9,u10,u11,u12 and two u13 teams.
We are always looking for u9 players, please get in touch if you know of anyone interested.
Planning has been approved for the replacement of the containers and we are excited to start the fund raising to get the new clubhouse installed for the start of next season.

Our June speaker, Ailish Henderson, introduced 13 members on-line to her interesting artwork making ‘Stitched Collage Portraits’. She certainly puts a lot of thought and work into producing her portraits, sewn onto silk, from various bits and pieces. An excellent example of recycling!
Our speaker on Zoom at 7.30 pm on 1st July will be Liza Jones. We are promised a lively talk on the history of ladies underwear, so be prepared for a rummage through your ‘drawers’, ladies! She comes well-recommended and includes, among others, examples of Victorian and Edwardian drawers, pantaloons and combinations and a selection of 20th century pieces.
Hopefully, this may be our last Zoom meeting for the time being as we intend, weather permitting, to again hold our 5th August meeting outdoors with a picnic in the Old Church Wood. If we can meet in the Village Hall on 2nd September - all being well- this will be just a get-together, catch up and a social evening.
August/September arrangements TBC by email nearer the times.
Thank you, Marian Chilvers, Secretary 788351

Longhorsley Local History Society hopes to start meeting again in the Village Hall from September, subject to any changes in restrictions.
The first meeting will be on Tuesday 14th September at 7:30pm.
Our topic will be the introduction of a newly published book by our resident author and historian Mr Billy Ricalton, ‘Longhorsley in WW2’.
Billy will give a talk about the book and the village in the war and copies will be available to purchase.
This was a very interesting period in the village’s history so put the date in your diary!
