Meetings

Where We Meet

Usually at International House of Pancakes, 5403 Stevens Creek Boulevard, Santa Clara. This is just off Highway 280, on the southwest side of the freeway (see map). If coming on 280 southbound, take the Stevens Creek exit, turn right and it is right there on the corner. If coming off 280 northbound, take the Lawrence Expressway exit, turn left on Stevens Creek Blvd, cross under 280 and its on the right. The meeting room is in the left rear of the restaurant.

Contact our membership secretary for more information.

When We Meet

Normally on the last Wednesday of the month, at about 6.00 PM, or whenever you can make it. We have dinner about 7.00 PM from the restaurant menu, mixed in with club business, entertainment, or education. Check the Events page and/or the most recent issue of our newsletter, the BASA Bugle to confirm whether a meeting is being held and when.

Who Comes

We are a group of between 60 and 70 pilots, but some of us live outside the Bay Area. At a typical meeting there will be anywhere from one to two dozen members, non-member pilots, wives, relatives, girl friends, and significant others. Guests are always welcome and we frequently meet drop-in folks, soaring pilots from out of state, past members, potential new members, or people who are just interested in soaring.

What We Do

We usually mix club business with entertainment or education. So you may hear us planning maintenance for our gliders, discussing a forthcoming wave camp, or conducting our annual general meeting. We have had speakers on pilot physiology (in preparation for our wave camp), cross country out of Truckee (in preparation for our move to the mountains), and discussions of landing pattern options at our principal airfields. Sometimes, we’ll show a soaring video. Check the most recent issue of our newsletter, the BASA Bugle, which is available on this website, to find out about the program for the next meeting.
