STI UPDATE

August 28, 2015

The last two events at STI were great and we’re now gearing up for the Labor Day weekend. To recap:

    • Hawaiian Night (August 8th) saw folks bringing appetizers to share, BYOF, with dessert provided by STI. If you missed seeing the male warrior dancers and our Hula girls perform…well, you missed something special 
    • August 22nd was the Truckee BASH, this year hosted by Bay Area Soaring Association. Wolf Webber and the BASA crew provided an outstanding dinner of tri-tip and chicken will all the “fix’ns”; appetizers and dessert was provided by STI. All three clubs participated, and many others joined in.

The Labor Day weekend is fast approaching and there are plans for an Italian night on Sunday September 6th. The dinner will be sponsored by STI, with spaghetti and meats prepared by Richard & Penny Pearl, a special spaghetti sauce prepared by Amy Colacevech, and a lasagna prepared by Tony Sabino. Please bring an appetizer to share. BYOB. Desserts will be provided by STI. Italian music will be playing in the background for your listening and eventual dancing pleasure in the Sheddo. Please call or email the STI office (info@soartruckee.com; 1.530.587.6702) to give us a head’s up if you’re coming ,and how many you will be; this will help in the food planning.

Plan on flying Sergio’s TAGARs Sunday September 6th. A fun race that will really help to sharpen your skills. Briefing at 10:00 AM. Saturday night, the treat will be “Oilyballs” by Hans and Marga Van Weersch. If you haven’t had this wonderful dessert, it's worth the trip to TRK alone.

We’re expecting a large crowd on Labor Day weekend, so if you need a campsite, contact the STI office ASAP. Flying in Truckee in September is usually spectacular, so think about finishing the season at TRK.

STI’s last day for the season will be Sunday September 27th’. All glider and camping trailers need to be gone by that late afternoon. At this time, we intend to have a tow plane and a 2-33 for instruction at Lincoln during the off-season. If you want a tow into the foothills, it might be able to be arranged.
