Cosmetology is a 2 year program offered to students in the schools listed above. The purpose of the Cosmetology program is to prepare students to sit for the Cosmetology State Board Examination for the state of Michigan. Most students join their junior year of high school, but joining is still a possibility senior year*.
First year students attend 3.25 hours per day, and 7 hours per day, 4 days per week, for 6 weeks during the summer.
Second year students attend 4.25 hours per day.
Attendance is paramount in this program, and if you attend when you are required to attend, you will have the 1500 hours of instruction required to sit for the Cosmetology State Board Examination in the state of Michigan, after you complete your second year of instruction.
*Students joining Cosmetology senior year will have to attend for 1 school year after high school graduation, and pay a $500 dollar deposit that will be credited toward their tuition of $2.75 per hour for the hours they attain their second year in the program.

-Sanitation as it pertains to Cosmetology
-Hairdressing
-Haircutting
-Haircoloring
-Chemical Texture Services (perms & relaxers)
-Natural Hair Cultivation (braiding & styling natural hair)
-Nail Services (manicures, pedicures, artificial nails)
-Esthetic Services (makeup, skin care, facials)
How do I join Cosmetology?
If you wish to join Cosmetology, talk to your counselor about the application process.
To be accepted into Cosmetology, you will need:
-An excellent attendance record
-An excellent behavioral record
-2 teacher recommendations
-To complete an interview with Ms. Sines or Mr. Lucas
