Triage Process (Commissioning)

If your study is covered by Integrated Care Board (ICB) commissioning, you will receive a commissioning decision directly from the triage team.

If a commissioning decision has not been received, please contact the lead Local Clinical Research Network (LCRN) for the study. Without a commissioner, no Excess Treatment Costs (ETCs) can be paid.

In order to receive ETCs, a commissioner needs to be assigned to a study. Commissioners are assigned by the NIHR CRNCC. A validated SoECAT, alongside a protocol and grant award letter, needs to be submitted to begin the commissioning process. This can be done using the Online SoECAT, where it will be completed within the Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS) by the study representative with support from the lead LCRN.

Since 01 April 2023 the Online SoECAT is mandated for applications with all funders. The Excel SoECAT templates will no longer be supported after this date.
