Title:  Assessment Authoring Feature for EOC Tests: Creating Your Own Test

Description: In this video, I will be discussing the assessment authoring feature for our EOC tests. I will explain how I use it with my students to provide them with simulated assessments and evaluate their progress. I will guide you through the process of accessing the assessment authoring section and creating your own tests. Title:  Assessment Authoring Feature with Ohio Readiness

Description: In this video, I provide an overview of the assessment authoring feature provided by Ohio Readiness. I explain the differences between benchmark and checkpoint tests and how the authoring features work for different testing scenarios. I then guide you through the process of using the authoring hub to create a test, focusing on the test generator wizard. I demonstrate how to select standards, choose the domain and strand, and generate the test. Finally, I show you how to review and publish the test. No specific action is requested from the viewers in this video.

Title:  Autocrat to the Rescue

Description: AutoCrat is an add-on that allows you to merge information from your spreadsheets into other formats, like a Google Doc, PDF, or even a Slideshow.  Anyone who uses Google Sheets has access to AutoCrat. It is a free merge tool that is available in the add-ons store. Just about anyone can use it to automate processes. Use this tool to enhance your workflow to free up time for more important tasks.

Title:  Behind Their Screens: What Teens are Facing (and Adults Are Missing)

Description: Drawing on a multiyear project surveying more than 3,500 teens, they explain "comparison quicksand," "digital pacifying," and other social media phenomena that prompt concern, if not outright panic, on the part of well-intentioned grown-ups. Dr. James and Dr. Weinstein have also worked closely with Common Sense to inform many of the nonprofit's resources for families and educators. Title:  Brave Work

Description: Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with our students is difficult--but necessary-- work. This work is often uncomfortable, and it takes courageous teachers to be willing to focus on more than standards and testing and to truly work towards what is best for students.


This session will provide strategies to help teachers build rapport, respect and relationships with students. As a group, we will build a collective toolbox that will help us lean into the tough topics we face in the classroom. The tools we include will help us better advocate for our most vulnerable learners. Title:  Combining a Reading Series and Phonics Program

Title:  Leading Beyond the Classroom: The Ohio Teacher Leader Liaison Network

Description: The Ohio Teacher Leader Liaison Network was launched in 2019 and is now in its fifth year of professional learning. This innovative and prestigious network of volunteer teachers from across the state engages with the Ohio Department of Education on topics related to education initiatives. Two local teachers currently serve on the network: Paula Hemmelgarn of Marion Local (Cohort 2) and Emily Hemmelgarn of Minster (Cohort 3).  OTLLs make a two-year commitment to volunteer as liaisons, participate in professional learning, and engage in two-way communications and feedback with the ODE. This session will explain the benefits of joining Ohio's teacher leadership network to enhance Mercer County's voice at the state level.

Title:  Stop Arguing with Me! Developing Argument Writing in Adolescent Learners 

Description: Students who wish to succeed and advance in school must both understand and write argument (and opinion) text. Standards, as well as instructors at all grade levels, address argument writing with their students. Van Cleave first examines the cognitive demands placed on student writers and then develops a research-based framework into which participants can place student writers and their needs. He looks at standards-based writing developmentally, scaffolding the skills students need most to achieve success in argument writing. He focuses attention on the components of the opinion/argument genre with emphasis placed on rationale for its inclusion in instruction. Participants also explore several overarching strategies for instruction, including gradual release, process writing, isolated skill development and writing in front of students
