Lunch & Learn Resources

Participants will choose a resource to explore. They will then complete a Google Form to identify the resource, write a summary, and receive their CEU Certificate: October Lunch and Learn CEU 

Participants will have an opportunity to earn an additional CEU for implementing the resource in their classroom. They will be emailed a Google Form to complete in order to earn this additional CEU: Extension CEU Opportunity 

Math Teachers - Problem-based lessons that foster students' curiosity. Created by Graham Fletcher, he has different lessons broken down standards. It's an engaging way to allow for student lead learning. He has graphic organizers to help students with their thinking and videos to help answer any question the teacher may have. If you do have a question he is quick to respond and help any way he can. 

Learners Edge put out their top 10 new tech tips - these resources can be used in PreK - 12 classrooms. There are ideas for Google and Microsoft schools. It gives a brief description of the tech and how you may apply it in your classroom. 

Over the past 5 years, this blog has seen nearly 3.1 million views. The most popular strategies from the blog all have one thing in common: They include downloadable resources and strategies which can be immediately used in the classroom. They are also free! 

Free for teachers- great for differentiation within the classroom. Very motivating and fun for the kids. Videos and some games can be played with a whole group for introduction or review of lessons. Can have lessons set up for use at home. 

Lots of tasks, lessons, assessments, and alignment to help students better understand. Just be aware this is aligned to Common Core and a lot of our standards are still similar to Common Core, but always double-check with your standards for alignment. Helpful for Math and ELA teaches.

It automatically SHH’s students when the volume level gets too high. That feature can be turned off of course. Anyways, thought it was fun and wanted to pass it along.

ClassDojo connects teachers with students and parents to build amazing classroom communities 

Classroom management tool for grades 6-12. He uses it in his classroom to help motivate students to complete assignments as well as keep their volume low while working in groups using the volume meter. You can create quests and can use it with or without computers. Worth checking out! 

Classroom Cereal is a series of free, printable short stories that double as grammar exercises. The original short stories are published monthly and in five parts. Each part of the story contains five grammatical errors. Enjoy the story and find the errors. It's simple and nourishing, much like a certain grain-based breakfast food. 

is a FREE web tool created by Laurens Koppers, a teacher from the Netherlands. Laurens created this tool to utilize the digiboard in their classroom to help students focus on their work. 

This is a great activity to help the student develop reading comprehension skills. 

This website offers a ton of passages and AIR-like questions (Part A & B). You can also sort your results by grade level, Lexile level, genre, theme, standard, or literary device. The passages start at a 3rd-grade level and go through 12th. 

FREE - Middle and High School - Teaching Genetics with Dragons - engages students in exploring heredity, genetics, and the protein-to-trait relationship by breeding and studying virtual dragons. 

transforming education with technology from Eric Curts - I believe he is a former ELA and Math teacher - he has a TON of resources around using Google suits and how to apply it in every classroom. He also has recorded webinars if you are more of an auditory learner.

Math - Online state calculator - The best part is the teacher side, you can use it in grade 2 - 12, lessons are already created or you can create your own. You can instantly see students results, for immediate reteach. Several different activites for students to learn different concepts (not just a calculator). 

if you attended Carrie Hudson session you already know what a wonderful assessment tool this is. It has all the state released test questions, plus tons of others, it allows kids to experience testing very similar to how they will be assessed on AIR and EOC. What I love most about it, is it can grade for you, plus it breaks the data down to help you know what your kiddos need to be successful. 

You can have students watch a video and stop it along the way and force them to answer questions. If the student gets the question wrong you can have them watch that section again until they answer correctly, plus on the teacher end, you can monitor how they responded each time to assess their progress. 

Free online learning community, lots of different content covered depending on the presenter. Plus you can earn FREE CEU hours for watching/ participating in a video. I've attended a lot of these and always leave with learning something new. 

free for teachers at the basic level - can level your students and they are given placement tests periodically to move students up. Lessons are retaught in a different way when students are not grasping the concept. Progress reports and questions answered correctly and incorrectly are logged. Can be used at home using the school code. 

we had our Mentors try this technology in their training - it's a great way to create a culture in your classroom of sharing - allowing kids to express their personality. It allows for even the bashful of kids to have a voice, at their comfort level. It's a neat tool - I would have kids explain problems using flipgrid then have others watch the kids explanation to help them. 

Digital flipbook maker for stunning magazines, create, share and embed online magazines, transforming your PDFs into online flipping books - Basic plan is Free can do a lot with it. 

Game show classroom: Comparing Kahoot!, Quizizz, Quizlet Live, and GimKit. - The following is from Ditch that Textbook: It gives a breakdown of each of the applications, how and when is the best way to use them with your students.

Students can manipulate the items on the screen to help them determine the solution. It allows for the kids to take a pretest over the material and then an assessment at the end. Allowing you to see all the results and where reteaching may need to occur.

If you have not yet tried this with your students it is a must - the kids LOVE it - you can create your own questions or use questions already created. It is an interactive game of questions and points.

Lino is a sticky note and photo sharing platform (FREE) - a great way to create conversation in your classroom. Create a board, share it with the students; and allow them to ask questions and answer each other questions. This can be done anonymously or with student identifier. 

has resources for EVERYONE - most are teacher created folders, just be aware when you are searching for something that is aligned to your standards, but you could get lost in all the information shared. You can create your own binder to store resources or just look at others. Too much information in one location not to share but can be a little overwhelming. 

Classroom Challenges are lessons that support teachers in formative assessment. There are 100 lessons in total, 20 at each grade from 6 to 8 and 40 for ‘Career and College Readiness’ at High School Grades 9 and above. Some lessons are focused on developing math concepts, others on solving non-routine problems. 

Parts are free - has lessons in all content areas. Charts students progress. You can become a part of a competition and then you will have access to the whole program. 

Mystery Animal is a new spin on the classic 20-questions game. The computer pretends to be an animal, and you have to guess what it is using your voice. Ask any yes-or-no question you want, like "Do you have feathers?" or "Do you sleep at night?" Play it on a Google Home by saying "Hey Google, talk to Mystery Animal," or try it on the site.

Lots of resources - Open educational resources are freely accessible, openly licensed text, media, and other digital assets that are useful for teaching, learning, and assessing as well as for research purposes. 

A great resource to manipulate PDFs for a variety of purposes. I have used it to divide pages with a PDF, combine pages from a PDF and reorganize pages in a PDF. 

Peergrade is a free online platform to facilitate peer feedback sessions with students. Students review each other's work while peer grade anonymously assigns students to work and gives insight to teachers. Students learn to think critically and take ownership of their learning. You can get 3 months of Peergrade Pro free - sign up for a free 30-day trial then use the code Cult (thanks to the cult of pedagogy podcast) 

Physical Education teachers - Free for teachers - Networking site - lesson plans, ideas, videos, discussion boards, and much more 

recommended by one of our group members!!! This is an interactive simulation for Elem to High School - it is for Math and Science contents. The simulations are very user-friendly and allow kids to have a great visual to understand tough concepts in a concrete way.

Enhance students learning with various tools, games, and flashcards. The basic version is free for teachers. If you want to upgrade for the data piece it is 35.99 for the year, but you can do a lot of the free version. 

a lot like book flix - free for teachers and the students they sign up. A lot of non-fiction and multicultural book choices. Teachers can set goals for student achievement for reading time and number of books. Can be logged into at home as well. A lot of the books offered are books AR Tests can be taken on. 

Can be used k - 12 in all content areas - you can assign students articles based on content, interest, and level - the program is designed to increase comprehension. 

I like this website for ideas on lesson plans and support for ELA teachers and learners. There are articles and sample lesson plans available. 

Christina Tondevold is a former elementary math teacher that taught very traditionally until she realized it wasn't working for her kiddos anymore. I follow her on twitter and facebook. She will offer free training and shares her ideas. I have never paid for her information, she is quick to answer questions and truely cares about the development of early learning math skills. 

Math - Problem Based learning - Lesson plans created based on CC standards. Great way to introduce or reinforce a lesson. Allows students to learn a concept based on real-world application. You will be surprised at how well the students do with their modeling and reasoning skills (Mathematical Practice - Modeling and Reasoning 20% of AIR assessment)

You can bookmark your pages to this then it is wherever you are. I use this every day, it's the first thing I log in to because my email link is saved on here. You can create your own webmixes or search for others. It truly is my favorite webpage!!! Webmixes are the tabs across the top and you can organize to whatever best suits you and you can share them. So if you are covering a certain topic and want to share only those resources with the kids you can. 

This is a free site where teachers can share or use a Hyperdoc already created. This is a wonderful place to find new ideas. If you click on the Take one - type in your keyword and see what resources come up. (this is a Google concept)

it is one of those resources I wish I had discovered it when I was still in the classroom. My twitter consist of mostly educational resources, it is a great way to connect with other educators.

Whether being used as part of the lesson or to wind class down, Vooks is a fun and versatile tool for the classroom.
