How did this get started?

The Wisconsin Local Foods Database (LFD) is managed by the AmeriCorps Farm to School program, which is a program housed at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instructions.

The LFD was created by Megan Wise, 2017-2018  AmeriCorps Farm to School service member.  Originally, the  LFD was designed for use by AmeriCorps members during their service to help facilitate sustained relationships between farms and schools over the years. Our goal is still the same, but the LFD is now available as a public resource. Our database contains detailed information on a variety of farms throughout Wisconsin in order to help school nutrition directors easily find and maintain partnerships with local farm businesses (and vice versa). This database also contains contact information for schools and farms as well as a brief history of farm to school partnerships.

If you have questions or suggestions for the Wisconsin Local Food Database, please reach out to a regional manager HERE.
