About Me
Turuna Seecharan, PhD
Director
Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Turuna Seecharan is an Assistant Professor and Dr. Howard Higholt Endowed Professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. She received her PhD (2012) in Systems Design Engineering from University of Waterloo. Before joining UMD, she spent two and a half years as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on gamification and eco-drive training in young drivers, maintenance strategies and metamodels for probabilistic design optimization. Dr. Seecharan serves as a Board Member on the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM).
Outside of Engineering, Dr. Seecharan serves as a Board Member on the Riverwalk Eating Disorders and Wellness Centres. She served as both co-chair and member of the Action Committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice in Swenson College of Science and Engineering (SCSE), co-chair of the Employee Code of Conduct Task Force within SCSE and is a member of the Swenson Gender Equity Team (SwenGET).
